Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 19 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Jim Storm!
The judges for this bout are Damien Edna, John Mangel and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Storm is trying to drag Birchmont to the mat but Birchmont just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

Birchmont pulls guard successfully.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Storm passes Birchmont's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Storm looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Storm is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.

Birchmont wants to get back to his feet.

Storm got a little sloppy there for a moment and Birchmont has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Storm has managed to get both his arms back between Birchmont's legs - danger averted.
Storm must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Storm is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Birchmont is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Storm is aware though and is defending well.

Storm drops back looking for a leg! Birchmont is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Birchmont manages to kick Storm off! Storm jumps back into Birchmont's guard.

Birchmont is looking for a triangle but Storm pushes his legs off easily.

Storm drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Storm jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

Storm drops back, looking for a kneebar! Birchmont looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Birchmont looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Birchmont!
Birchmont content to control the pace. The referee will try and keep them active though.

Birchmont is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Storm knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

Storm is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Storm is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Birchmont couldn't care less - he's delighted!
