Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Wendelin Houtman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Alex Jackson!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Cecil Peabody and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Jackson fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Houtman throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.

Houtman closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Houtman content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Houtman wants to free his trapped foot but Jackson is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Houtman is working for a kimura but Jackson is defending it quite comfortably.
Houtman seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Jackson looks like he's trying to stand up.
Houtman is taking a breather. Jackson says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Wendelin Houtman.
Jackson takes a body punch but keeps moving.

and Houtman makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Houtman closes the distance and clinches.

Houtman is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Jackson can't fight it off and eventually Houtman manages to take the fight to the floor. Jackson looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Houtman slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.
Houtman might be looking to lock onto one of his opponent's long limbs for a submission, whilst we're on the ground.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Wendelin Houtman.

Houtman scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Jackson is looking to reverse the position.
Jackson is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

Jackson is trying to escape the position but Houtman is controlling the position.

Houtman decides to stand back up. Houtman steps back and let's Jackson get back to his feet.
Houtman swats away the attempt to clinch by Jackson.

Houtman closes the distance and pushes Jackson back into the cage.

Houtman is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Jackson can't fight it off and eventually Houtman manages to take the fight to the floor. Jackson looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
A left and a right from Jackson both land. Nice combination.

Houtman drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Jackson really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Houtman. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

and Houtman counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Jackson!
Jackson is trying to escape the position but Houtman is controlling the position.

If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.
Houtman lands a knee to the body and a forearm to the face.
Jackson tries to bench press Houtman off him but Houtman keeps the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Houtman shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Jackson's guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Houtman takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Wendelin Houtman wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Houtman darts in and clinches Jackson up against the cage.
Houtman scores with a shoulder strike.

Houtman breaks from the clinch.

Houtman shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.

Jackson can't keep his opponent in guard - Houtman advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

Well, if Houtman is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Jackson on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Houtman takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Wendelin Houtman is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Houtman forces Jackson back against the cage and clinches.
Houtman content to slow the pace in the clinch.

Houtman manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.

Houtman pushes Jackson off and gets back to his feet.
Houtman tries to clinch up but Jackson circles away and keeps his distance.

Jackson moves into range and clinches up with Houtman.

Houtman has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Jackson can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Jackson wants to control from the top but Houtman keeps moving.
Houtman wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Houtman on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Houtman tries to get out of the position.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Houtman connects with a nice short shot to Jackson's temple.
