Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Vinnie Black (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kevin Valentine (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Vinnie Black has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Vinnie Black!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kevin Valentine!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Robert Twigg and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Black fails to land the takedown.
Black displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Valentine.

Black pushes Valentine up against the cage in a clinch.
Black holding his opponent close, against the cage.

Valentine breaks the clinch.
Black connects with a leg kick. He turned his hip over nicely there.

Valentine shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Valentine tries to stand but can't do so whilst Black controls his leg.
Black regains full guard. Nicely done.
Valentine must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Valentine's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Black wants to stand but Valentine is controlling the position.
Valentine is looking to stand up but Black won't let him.
Valentine being controlled here momentarily.

Black pushes Valentine off and scrambles back to his feet.
A combination from Valentine does no damage.
Black shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Valentine as he jumps to the side.

Valentine has taken the fight to the clinch.

Valentine gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Black regains guard.
Valentine controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Black pushes Valentine off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Black will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Vinnie Black. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Black tries for a takedown but Valentine circles away easily

and Valentine counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Black's guard now.
Valentine slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Valentine gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Valentine is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Black is defending well.

Valentine has hold of one of Black's legs. Black is fighting the takedown attempt but Valentine gets the trip and lands the takedown into guard.
Black is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Valentine wants to pass the guard but Black is keeping the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Valentine is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Black looking to control.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Black has a closed guard, preventing Valentine from standing up.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Black swinging wildly here.
Black throws a right hand that Valentine ducks under and follows up with a left that Valentine also avoids with ease.

Valentine darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Valentine tries to stand but his arm is trapped.
Valentine content to control rather than advance.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Valentine passes to side control.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Valentine misses with a takedown attempt - Black sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.

Valentine shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Black is trying to defend but Valentine finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
Black is trying to get back to full guard.
Valentine prevents Black from standing back up.
Valentine wants to stand up but Black has a hold of him and won't allow it.
Valentine is controlling the pace.

Black throws a strike from the bottom that misses.

The ref calls for a clean break and stands the fighters back up. Kevin Valentine wasn't active enough on the ground.
Valentine tries to close the distance and clinch but Black swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Valentine throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Black was covering up waiting for the punch and Valentine finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Valentine is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
Valentine is looking to stand up but Black won't let him.

Black tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Valentine trying to stand up but can't free himself from Black's guard.
Black is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Black wants to lay and pray for a moment but Valentine keeps working.
Valentine tries to roll over but Black keeps him under control.
Black is stalling here. Valentine is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Black seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Valentine has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.
Valentine wants to stand but Black is controlling his arm.

Black managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Valentine.
Black is trying to control Valentine's posture but Valentine avoids it.
Kevin Valentine has got the better of the ground game so far.
Black tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Valentine wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Black struggling a bit here.
Valentine tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.
Black is trying to control Valentine's posture but Valentine avoids it.

Valentine has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Valentine bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.

Black wants to control but Valentine postures up.

Valentine decides to stand up, so the ref orders Black to his feet.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Black shoots in but no luck this time.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Black has his takedown stuffed
and Valentine counters with a nice uppercut.
Black shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Valentine as he jumps to the side.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Black throws a body punch but Valentine moves out of range.
Valentine looking to land some kicks to the body here.

Kevin Valentine showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Valentine really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Black. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Valentine is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
Valentine wants to stand but Black has a closed guard, so he can't escape.
Black preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Black is trying to stand up but he's not managed so far.
Valentine has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Black is proving hard to escape from.

Valentine looking to pass the guard.
Black can't keep his opponent in guard - Valentine advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Valentine is looking to advance position but Black won't allow it.
Valentine is trying to get back to his feet now but his leg is trapped.
Black is trying to get back to full guard.
Black wants to control but Valentine is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Black shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Valentine sprawls well. Valentine wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Black gets slowly back to his feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.

Nice takedown defense from Valentine. No joy for Black on that attempt.
Vinnie Black seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Black gets tackled into the cage by Valentine. Valentine maintains the clinch.
Valentine tries for a takedown but Black manages to get underhooks.

Black manages to break the clinch.

Valentine moves into the clinch successfully.
Valentine is pressed up against the cage. Black has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Valentine down to the mat. Valentine avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Valentine closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Valentine has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Black regains guard immediately.

Valentine is looking to stand up but Black won't let him.

Black is working an open guard so Valentine takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Black doesn't manage to clinch there - Valentine circles away.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Valentine moves in looking to clinch but Black pushes him off.
Valentine connects with the punch.
Black tries for a takedown but Valentine sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Valentine throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Vinnie Black has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Kevin Valentine is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
Valentine throws a hook but Black avoids it easily.

And that's the end of the fight!
Kevin Valentine comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Valentine has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
