PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Taylor Mendonca (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Werben (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Werben's choice of entrance music: The Offspring - You're Gonna Go Far, Kid . John Werben told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Taylor Mendonca!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Werben!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Tiny Johnson and Robert Twigg.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mendonca clinches.
A battle for position here, against the cage.
A nice glancing elbow lands by Werben.
The referee is keeping an eye on Werben - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

Mendonca breaks the clinch.

Werben moves into range and clinches up with Mendonca.
Mendonca has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Werben avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.

Mendonca gets control of Werben's arms and successfully pulls guard. Mendonca will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Mendonca changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Werben looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

John Werben is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

Mendonca fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Werben manages to avoid it.

and Mendonca counters with a body kick that stops Werben in his tracks momentarily.

John Werben comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Werben winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
