PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between James James (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Archie Stewart (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Stewart has chosen Frightened Rabbit - The Twist as his entrance music. Well, the cameraman is lingering on a pretty young lady for a bit too long there. Keep your eyes on the fighters buddy or you'll miss the fighter intros!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, James James!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Archie Stewart!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Ivan Kurochkin and Aleksei Zolotukhin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
James walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Stewart throws a sloppy head kick
and James counters with a lovely straight right hand!
A jab lands there for James.
James lands a jab to the nose.
Stewart avoids the body shot from James.
James throws a poor cross that misses
and Stewart counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
James throws a right hand that misses
and Stewart counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps James thinking.

Stewart gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows James to score an easy takedown into full guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Stewart not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
James with a couple of shots to the head there. Not particularly brutal.

Stewart throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Stewart is on top in guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Stewart won't allow James to sweep him here.

James has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Stewart is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for James.
Stewart trying to control the action but James is working from the bottom.
Stewart looks up at the clock and then as James takes his cue and looks up at the clock too, Stewart smacks him right in the chops with a big elbow! How rude!
Stewart working the ground and pound but James is defending the strikes.
James tries to improve position but can't.
Stewart has the superior BJJ but he's also working some ground strikes into his gameplan.
James is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Stewart off and has taken his back!
James lands a punch to the side of the head from the back.
James trying to control momentarily.

James doesn't have the hooks in and Stewart manages to turn into his guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Stewart trying to control the position from guard on top but James is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Stewart prevents James from getting back to his feet.
Stewart throws a big right hand that misses.
Stewart lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Stewart stopping the sweep attempt from James.
James keeping moving, preventing Stewart from controlling successfully.

James looking for a guillotine here but Stewart defends easily.
Stewart with a nice head shot there.
Stewart trying to control but James is working from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
James manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
James landing shots from mount.
Stewart is looking to improve his position but James isn't that keen on the idea.
James lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.
James is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Stewart can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Stewart can't escape the position.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
James landing strikes, looking to finish!


Stewart is rocked!
Stewart is trying desperately to improve position.
Stewart is still in real trouble! Can James finish him?
James connects with a bit shot that sees Stewart covering up! More strikes from James and the referee jumps in to stop the fight! James is our winner by TKO!
