PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Chuck Lee (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Janathan Ho (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lee comes to the cage accompanied by Eminem - Cold Wind Blows. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Chuck Lee!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 1, fighting out of Tokyo, Janathan Ho!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Hirohito Nitta and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ho pushes Lee up against the cage in a clinch.
Lee is looking to break free of the clinch but Ho has double underhooks.

Ho is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Lee can't fight it off and eventually Ho manages to take the fight to the floor. Lee looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Ho is stalling in the full guard.
Lee wants to sweep but no luck.
Ho looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

Lee working for a triangle but Ho defends it easily.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Ho controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Lee preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Lee is on top in guard.
Lee is sitting in guard, working some ground and pound.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Ho is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Lee is aware though and is defending well.
Lee is fighting to break Ho's control of his arms but Ho is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Ho lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Lee!

Ho has control of Lee's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Lee regains control of the situation pretty easily.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Ho punishing his opponent with strikes.
Ho is landing with some decent strikes but Lee is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.

Ho postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Lee looks a forlorn figure.

Ho goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Lee is on top in guard.

Ho wriggles free and stands up.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Ho shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Lee but Lee pushes him off and we're back to square one.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Janathan Ho dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.


Ho tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Ho tries to score a power double leg takedown but Lee sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Ho somewhat.
Lee shoots in for a takedown but Ho shows good takedown defense.
Ho tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Lee manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Lee keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Ho lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Lee backs up against the cage.
Lee is looking to clinch but Ho is avoiding it.
Chuck Lee is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Ho clinches up against the cage.
Ho cracks Lee with a nice body shot.
Lee prevents the takedown attempt.
Chuck Lee has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Janathan Ho.
Both fighters working to control the clinch.

Lee misses with a punch on the inside.

Ho pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Ho misses with a head kick.
Lee is looking to take this fight into the clinch.
Ho has his head slapped from side to side by a 3 punch combination. That must have hurt him.
Chuck Lee seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Ho shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Ho showed some decent athleticism there.

Lee has one foot on Ho's thigh - he pushes off and manages to get back to his feet.
Ho shoots for a takedown but Lee saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Lee doesn't manage to clinch there - Ho circles away.

Ho closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Ho is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Ho tries to pass the half guard into mount. Lee knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Janathan Ho has got the better of the ground game so far.
Lee tries to kick Ho off but Ho keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Ho decides to return to a standing position.

Ho moves into the clinch.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Lee wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Ho has him pressed against the cage.

Ho pulls guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Lee won't allow Ho to sweep him here.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Janathan Ho showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
That's time! Back to the action! This is the final round!


Ho shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Lee pinned against the cage. Lee gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Ho is defended easily by Lee.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Lee enables Ho to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Lee manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Ho pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Lee is keeping the position for now.
Ho controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Janathan Ho.
Lee misses with a head kick.
Ho fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Lee avoids it really well and circles away.
Chuck Lee has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Janathan Ho.
Lee shoots in but Ho avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Ho throws a lazy head kick
and Ho takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Lee moves out of range of the body kick from Ho.

Lee fails with an attempt to clinch.
Ho shoots for a takedown but Lee saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Ho takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Ho tries to clinch up.

Ho closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Lee quickly recovers to half guard.

Ho stands, ready to strike. The ref makes him back up and allows Lee to get to his feet.
Lee fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Ho checks it well.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Lee dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Donk. Lee catches Ho right on the button with a cross.
Ho fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Lee lands a nice shot that snaps Ho's head back.
Lee wants to clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Ho tries to keep at a distance but Lee has taken the fight into the clinch.
Lee wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Ho misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Lee.
Lee working hard to break the clinch.

Ho manages to break the clinch.
Ho tries to close the distance and clinch but Lee swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Ho walks forward, straight into a front kick from Lee.
Some wild striking there from Ho.
Lee fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Lee moves in looking to clinch but Ho pushes him off.
Lee throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Lee tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Lee defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Ho.

Ho shoots in and gets a takedown into Lee's guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Chuck Lee has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Janathan Ho is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

I would just about give that final round to Janathan Ho.
I've got Ho winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
