PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Noah Williams (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Robert Garcia (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Garcia has chosen Art of Fighting Theme as his entrance music. The atmosphere really building for this one as we go over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Noah Williams!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Robert Garcia!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, Winston Howard and John Mangel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Williams gets caught napping as Garcia dives in and scores a takedown. Williams manages to retain guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Garcia trying to control but Williams is working from the bottom.
Williams wants to sweep here but Garcia controlling him for the moment.

Williams scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Garcia throws a series of punches but Williams moves out of range.
Williams wants to clinch.
Williams scores with a slapping inside leg kick.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Williams gets in close and instigates a clinch.
Garcia tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Williams jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Garcia walks away with a smile on his face. Williams gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.

Williams gets the takedown into side control.
A lull in the action here.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Williams throws a strike aimed at the side of Garcia's head but Garcia avoids it well.
Williams tries to stand but Garcia is controlling his head.
Williams is looking to take a break and control but Garcia is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Noah Williams has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.
Garcia doesn't manage to clinch there - Williams circles away.
Williams fails with an attempt to clinch.

Williams instigates a clinch.
Garcia slowing the pace effectively.

Garcia breaks from the clinch.
Garcia lands with a head kick! That's gotta hurt.


It looks like Noah Williams has been cut.

Garcia feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Williams not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.
Williams is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Williams is trying to keep Garcia in close.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Williams is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Garcia is aware though and is defending well.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Williams working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Garcia doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Garcia manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

That was a close round but I would say that Noah Williams will probably get the nod.

The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Williams shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Garcia is trying to defend but Williams finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Garcia kicks Williams off and gets back to his feet.
Williams misses with a few strikes there.
Williams is looking to clinch but Garcia is avoiding it.
Williams misses with a jab, cross combination.
Garcia doesn't manage to clinch there - Williams circles away.
Williams tries to clinch there but Garcia circles away.

Garcia instigates a clinch.
Williams is looking to break free of the clinch but Garcia has double underhooks.

Williams has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Williams wants to break free but Garcia has control.

Garcia's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Garcia throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Garcia shoots in for a takedown but Williams shows good takedown defense.

Williams fails miserably with a takedown attempt.

Garcia has Williams up against the cage in a clinch.
Garcia slows down the pace here.

Williams looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Garcia is fending him off so far but Williams persists. Nope, Garcia circles away and we're back to standing.

Garcia moves into the clinch.

Garcia is pressed up against the cage. Williams has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Garcia down to the mat. Garcia avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.
Robert Garcia seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Garcia fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
No luck for Williams with that takedown attempt.
Garcia tries a head kick but it misses.
Garcia goes for a high kick. It partially lands.
Williams misses with a two punch combination.
Williams misses with an uppercut.

Williams closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Garcia looks like he's trying to stand up.

Williams wants to control but Garcia is keeping him busy.
Williams content to control rather than advance.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.

We're going to have a standup here because Noah Williams wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Garcia lands a head kick. Williams smiles back at him and beckons him forward.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Williams wants to clinch.
Garcia is looking to clinch.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Robert Garcia showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!

Noah Williams overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Williams wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Noah Williams.

Garcia shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Williams napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Williams trying to control but Garcia flips him over like a cheap hooker and has his back!

Garcia biding his time, looking for the opening.

Garcia is not going to allow Williams to sit and survive in this position.
Garcia slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.
Williams is in bad spot here.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Williams is trying to break free.

Garcia just keeping the dominant position. He can't wait too long though, otherwise the referee will stand them back up.
Garcia is looking to control Williams but Williams is wriggling around and keeping busy.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Robert Garcia hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.

and Williams counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Garcia's guard now.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Williams accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Williams trying to control the position from guard on top but Garcia is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Williams content to stall in guard here.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Noah Williams.
Williams misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Williams throws a wild body kick that Garcia sees coming a mile off.
Williams shoots in for a takedown but Garcia shows good takedown defense.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Garcia throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Williams.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Robert Garcia.
I think Garcia has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
