PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Duke Toney (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jose Carlos jr (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Toney comes to the cage accompanied by Pulp Fiction theme song. Carlos jr has chosen Jarrid Mendelson - The Ultimate Fighter as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. On his way into the cage it seems that Duke Toney has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Duke Toney seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Toney swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Carlos jr throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Toney waving his hands out infront of him, looking to distract Carlos jr.
Carlos jr uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Toney.

Toney rushes Carlos jr and presses him up against the cage.
Carlos jr tries to pull guard but Toney holds him up against the cage and eventually Carlos jr drops back down to his feet.

Toney breaks the clinch.
Toney misses with a combination

and Carlos jr decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Toney's guard.

Carlos jr drops back looking for a leg! Toney is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Toney manages to kick Carlos jr off! Carlos jr jumps back into Toney's guard.
Carlos jr passes into half guard.

Toney wants to get back to his feet.
Toney tries to kick Carlos jr off in order to stand up. Carlos jr Avoids the leg push though and dives into side control.

Carlos jr is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Toney has escaped the position, nice work there.
Toney manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Toney is in trouble now - Carlos jr has advanced to mount!
Toney tries to improve his position but instead Carlos jr has taken his back!

Carlos jr is looking for the choke from the back position but Toney is controlling his hands well.
Toney could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
I really don't envy Toney right now.

Carlos jr has his opponent's back but Toney is looking to stand. He manages to get to his feet and shakes off Carlos jr.
Toney throws a lazy right hand but Carlos jr sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Carlos jr shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Carlos jr looks gassed!
Toney throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped

and Carlos jr counters with a nice double leg into side control. Toney won't be happy with that.

Carlos jr working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.
Toney pushes Carlos jr away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Carlos jr gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Carlos jr tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Carlos jr has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Toney gets back to half guard.

Carlos jr is looking for a kimura but Toney is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Carlos jr to get the leverage.
Toney is pressing down on Carlos jr's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Carlos jr wants to pass the guard but Toney is keeping the position.
Carlos jr won't allow Toney to get back to his feet.

Carlos jr drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Toney manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Carlos jr has Toney in his guard.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Carlos jr looks to be working for a triangle here. Oh, it looks like he might have it! Toney has picked Carlos jr up and slammed him! Carlos jr can't keep hold of the triangle and Toney manages to pass to side control!
Carlos jr is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Toney off and has taken his back!
Toney is trying to get back to his feet but Carlos jr has full control of the position and if anything, Toney has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Carlos jr has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
Toney wants to get back to his feet.

Toney misses with a body punch

Carlos jr thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Carlos jr has an Americana. Toney didn't react quickly enough there and he's in big trouble now! He tries to squirm out but is forced to tap! Carlos jr is delighted and gyrates infront of the ring girls. They seem to like the attention - it'll be interesting to see if Carlos jr hooks up with any of them at the after show party.
