PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Yngwie Wynsten (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Bubba Benson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Benson has chosen Sweet home Alabama as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. The key to victory for Yngwie Wynsten has got to be keeping the fight on the feet.

The judges for this bout are Yuuki Gou, Shigeki Fujiwara and Sosuke Kotani.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Wynsten shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Wynsten showed some decent athleticism there.
Benson wants to improve his position but Wynsten is controlling well.
Benson is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Benson has a hand on Wynsten's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Wynsten takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Benson is trying to reverse the position but instead Wynsten has taken his back - oops!
Benson wants to control his opponent's hands but Wynsten gets his hands free.
Wynsten is throwing punches to the body, looking to soften Benson up.
You know, I was talking to some of our celebrities at ringside tonight and they were split right down the middle on who was going to win this fight.
Benson can't escape the position.
Benson just trying to survive but Wynsten is wriggling into a better position, looking to finish.

So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Wynsten is trying to stick to Benson's back but Benson is turning into Wynsten. He's managed to reverse the position - now he's in Wynsten's guard. Polite applause from the crowd in appreciation of some nice Jiu Jitsu by Benson.
Benson looking to sit in guard and control but Wynsten gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Wynsten is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Wynsten got a little sloppy there for a moment and Benson has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Wynsten has managed to get both his arms back between Benson's legs - danger averted.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Wynsten is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.

Wynsten seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Benson for as long as he can get away with.

Benson throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Wynsten escapes and throws Benson's legs to the side, diving into side control!

That was a close round but I would say that Yngwie Wynsten will probably get the nod.

Benson is looking to reverse the position.
The referee asks Wynsten politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Wynsten prefers to stall for the moment though.

Benson looking for a sweep but Wynsten has passed into full mount! Oh no!

Benson is desperately trying to improve his position but Wynsten has a good base and remains in mount.

Benson sneaks a leg back under and regains half guard and is working straight away to try and get back to guard. He hasn't managed just yet though.
Benson is pressing down on Wynsten's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.
Benson wants to sweep here but Wynsten controlling him for the moment.

Benson looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Wynsten passes into side control.

Benson regains full guard. Nicely done.
Benson looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Wynsten puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.

Wynsten is looking for a kimura but Benson is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Wynsten to get the leverage.
Wynsten is thwarting Benson's attempts to control the position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Benson has guillotine here! It looks pretty tight! Could this be all over! No, Wynsten escapes and passes into side control at the same time. Nice work there by Wynsten!
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Wynsten manages to capitalize on a mistake by Benson to take his back!

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! This is the final round!



Wynsten forces Benson back against the cage and clinches.
Wynsten pushes Benson back against the cage and unloads with a body punch.
Wynsten's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.
Benson is trying to drag Wynsten to the mat but Wynsten just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.
Benson is looking to break free of the clinch but Wynsten has double underhooks.
The pace really dropping off here, momentarily.

Wynsten has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Benson regains guard immediately.

Benson has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Wynsten is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Benson.

Wynsten takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Wynsten is looking cool and calm here, just waiting for a good opportunity to attack and finish the fight from this dominant position.
