PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Frank Mirrochi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Roger Simmons (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). I'm sure you'll be fascinated to know that I was talking to some pointless Z list celebrity before the fight and he thought that Roger Simmons was going to win. Let's see if he was right.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Yasuomi Hirokawa, Sosuke Kotani and Taro Takaoka.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Mirrochi shoots in but Simmons avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Simmons scores with a shot to the body.
Mirrochi shoots for a double leg takedown but Simmons sprawls well. He's pushed Mirrochi's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.
Mirrochi fails with the takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Frank Mirrochi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Mirrochi tries to clinch up
and Simmons counters with a nice body shot.
Simmons lands with an uppercut that bounces Mirrochi off the cage and back into range.
Simmons ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Mirrochi misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Simmons bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Mirrochi's head backwards.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Mirrochi moves in looking to clinch but Simmons pushes him off.

Simmons closes the distance and clinches.
Simmons gets through Mirrochi's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Simmons wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.

Simmons has Mirrochi pushed against the cage.
Mirrochi lands with a light punch inside.
Simmons tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Simmons misses with the head strike.
Simmons working hard to break the clinch.
A short right from Simmons on the inside.
Mirrochi is looking for a takedown up against the cage. Simmons gets underhooks though and prevents the takedown attempt.
Mirrochi is trying to pull guard but Simmons turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.
Simmons working on landing some head shots here - that one got through nicely.

Mirrochi's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Simmons connects nicely with a jab. Noted by the judges no doubt.
Mirrochi walks into a left hand.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Simmons throws a body punch but Mirrochi moves out of range.
Mirrochi fails with a takedown attempt.
Mirrochi is breathing heavily.
Simmons tests Mirrochi's chin there with a solid looking shot.

Simmons lands a nice hook to Mirrochi's body. Mirrochi takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Simmons scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Mirrochi doesn't seem bothered though.

A lazy left from Simmons finds it's target.

Simmons scores with a nice looking left hook and follows it up with an uppercut!

Mirrochi is rocked!
Simmons cracks Mirrochi with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Mirrochi tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Simmons pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Mirrochi is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:11 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Roger Simmons!
