The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Myers closes the distance and clinches up with Varguinho, looking for a takedown. Myers pushes Varguinho against the cage but Varguinho circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Varguinho will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Myers misses with a head kick.

Myers closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Myers with the ground and pound but Varguinho uses the opportunity to regain guard.

Varguinho really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Myers throws a big right hand that misses.

Myers is looking to work some ground and pound but Varguinho has wrist control.

Bruno Varguinho has forced the referee to step in and bring the fight back to the feet.

Varguinho clinches up against the cage.

Myers has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Varguinho regains guard immediately.
Varguinho manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Myers manages to get himself to full guard.
Myers wants to get back to his feet but Varguinho is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Varguinho sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Myers's guard.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Myers can do anything to dispel that myth.

Varguinho looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Myers really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Varguinho. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Varguinho tries to control but Myers wriggling away.

Varguinho working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Myers turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Varguinho off and cradles Myers's limp body as Varguinho celebrates with his corner.
