Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Kyle Babcock (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and David Olsteen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Kyle Babcock has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Kyle Babcock!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, David Olsteen!
The judges for this bout are Vladimir Khabensky, Sergei Dronov and Viktor Lagutenko.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Babcock shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Olsteen's guard.

Babcock postures up and lands a big shot to Olsteen's brow.
Babcock throwing strikes from guard but Olsteen blocks nicely.
Babcock stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Olsteen swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Babcock trying to control the position from guard on top but Olsteen is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Babcock makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Olsteen controls Babcock momentarily but Babcock frees himself.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by David Olsteen.
Babcock swings wildly with a couple of big hooks
and Olsteen counters with a straight right hand.

Babcock is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.

Babcock had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Olsteen defends it easily.

Babcock has his foot on Olsteen's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Olsteen works his way back into a safe position though.

Olsteen decides to stand up, so the ref orders Babcock to his feet.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Olsteen has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Babcock looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Olsteen is fending him off so far but Babcock persists. Nope, Olsteen circles away and we're back to standing.
Olsteen fakes the leg kick and cracks Babcock in the body.
Olsteen takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Babcock throws a hook but Olsteen avoids it easily.
Olsteen keeps the fight on the outside.
Babcock tries for a takedown but Olsteen sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Olsteen tries to clinch but Babcock moves out of range.
Kyle Babcock is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Olsteen holds on and takes a little breather.

The two fighters exchange a few words. I couldn't hear what they were saying but maybe it's more fun if you make it up yourself. Olsteen connects with a nice short shot to Babcock's temple.

Babcock is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Olsteen pulls his head out easily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Olsteen looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Babcock with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Babcock is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Olsteen's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Olsteen's back!
