Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Eli Smith (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and George Piere (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Eli Smith has the edge in experience - let's see if he can make that count tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Eli Smith!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, George Piere!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Daniel Franklin and Tiny Johnson.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Piere misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Smith shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Piere but Piere pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Piere throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Smith blocks a jab.
Smith shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Piere cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Smith tries for a takedown but Piere circles away easily

and Smith is countered with a crisp right hand from Piere that sends him to the canvas! Piere follows him to the mat into side control.

It looks like Eli Smith has been cut.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Eli Smith. That's going to take a lot out of him.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Smith tries to bench press Piere off him but Piere keeps the position.
Piere really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Smith. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Piere in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Smith tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Piere wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.

Smith is rocked!
Piere lands a big left to the face of Smith, bouncing his head like a basketball. Another shot from Piere and another - Smith is out! Piere stands up and salutes his fans, who are going crazy in the stands.
