Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Georges Cro Cop (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Frank Mcgrath (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Mcgrath has chosen 50 cent feat. Akon - I'll still kill as his entrance music. Frank Mcgrath has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Georges Cro Cop!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Frank Mcgrath!
The judges for this bout are Ian Loll, Robert Douchet and William Peck.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Mcgrath gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Mcgrath lands a takedown into guard.
Cro Cop working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Mcgrath.
Cro Cop has Mcgrath pulled in close to control his posture.
Mcgrath throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Cro Cop is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.

Cro Cop looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Mcgrath has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Cro Cop is proving hard to escape from.
Cro Cop manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Mcgrath manages to get himself to full guard.

Mcgrath kicks Cro Cop off and gets to his feet.

Cro Cop fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Cro Cop shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Mcgrath as he jumps to the side.
Nice takedown defense from Mcgrath. No joy for Cro Cop on that attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Georges Cro Cop. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Cro Cop gets taken down but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Cro Cop has Mcgrath pulled in close to control his posture.

Cro Cop bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mcgrath's guard.

Mcgrath throwing some rather feeble looking strikes off his back.

Cro Cop wants to control from the top but Mcgrath keeps moving.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

and Mcgrath counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Mcgrath must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Mcgrath postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.
Mcgrath wants to control from the top but Cro Cop keeps moving.
Mcgrath wants to pass the guard but Cro Cop is keeping the position.
Cro Cop is trying to control the position from the bottom.
Mcgrath trying to control the position from guard on top but Cro Cop is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Mcgrath passes Cro Cop's right leg, so he's now in half guard.

Mcgrath is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Cro Cop could do with loosing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Mcgrath trying to mount his opponent but Cro Cop defends it.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Cro Cop wants to control but Mcgrath is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Cro Cop looking for a takedown here - he's got it.
Mcgrath striking off his back but it's not causing Cro Cop any problems.
Mcgrath not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Mcgrath had isolated an arm as going for an omaplata. Cro Cop is defending the submission well but is in a very vulnerable position. Mcgrath Is leaning forward trying to finish the omaplata but decides to abandon it, and take Cro Cop's back instead.
Cro Cop prevents Mcgrath from getting a body triangle.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Watch the back of the head! Comes the shout from the referee towards Mcgrath.
I would not like to be Cro Cop right now.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Frank Mcgrath dominated that round.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Cro Cop with a poor takedown

and Mcgrath holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.

Mcgrath breaks from the clinch.
Cro Cop throws a sloppy head kick and Mcgrath moves out of range easily.
Cro Cop shoots in but doesn't get the takedown

and Mcgrath counters with a leg kick then a big left hand that sends Cro Cop down! Mcgrath is looking to finish but Cro Cop is intelligently defending himself.


Cro Cop is rocked!
Cro Cop controls Mcgrath momentarily but Mcgrath frees himself.
Oh Cro Cop is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Mcgrath postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Mcgrath wants to control from the top but Cro Cop keeps moving.
Cro Cop seems to have got his legs back now.
Mcgrath looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Cro Cop wants to sweep here but Mcgrath controlling him for the moment.
Mcgrath wants to pass the guard but Cro Cop is keeping the position.

Neither fighter is doing enough for the referee's liking and he's decided to stand them back up.

Mcgrath shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Cro Cop's guard.
Mcgrath lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
There's a bit of a scramble here and now Cro Cop is on top in guard.
Mcgrath is looking to sweep but instead, Cro Cop has passed into half guard.

Cro Cop bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mcgrath's guard.
Cro Cop controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.

Mcgrath has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Cro Cop can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Mcgrath tries to land a sweep but no joy.

Cro Cop slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Mcgrath tries to get back to his feet but has found himself mounted instead. Damn, that's gotta suck.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Cro Cop landing strikes from the mount and Mcgrath is in trouble!

Cro Cop is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!

Cro Cop shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Mcgrath's guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Mcgrath keeping moving, preventing Cro Cop from controlling successfully.
Mcgrath wants to sweep here but Cro Cop controlling him for the moment.

A close second round but Frank Mcgrath will probably get the nod - 10:9.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!

Mcgrath stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cro Cop swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Mcgrath postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Cro Cop is trying to control the position but Mcgrath postures up.
Cro Cop is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Mcgrath is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Cro Cop wants to stand and escape but Mcgrath is having none of it.

Mcgrath takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Mcgrath moves into the clinch successfully.

Cro Cop takes a shot to the head.

Mcgrath has double underhooks and is working for a body lock takedown. He's got it. The fighters land in half guard but Cro Cop regains guard immediately.
Cro Cop manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!
Mcgrath is working to get back to half guard.
Cro Cop controlling from mount.
Cro Cop trying to control but he's not successful this time.

Mcgrath wants to improve position but instead he's given up his back.
Mcgrath is being controlled on the ground here - he must escape this position otherwise surely the end is near.
Cro Cop seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Mcgrath for as long as he can get away with.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Cro Cop's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.

The referee stands the fighters back up. Georges Cro Cop just wasn't active enough from the dominant position.

Mcgrath darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
Frank Mcgrath has got the better of the ground game so far.

Cro Cop manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Mcgrath manages to get himself to full guard.
Mcgrath looking to hit a scissor sweep but Cro Cop is one step ahead there.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Mcgrath is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Cro Cop missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Mcgrath can do anything to dispel that myth.

Well, the referee has seen enough. Neither fighter is active enough on the ground so he's stood them back up.
Mcgrath throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Cro Cop looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Mcgrath clinches with his opponent.

And that's the end of the fight!
Frank Mcgrath comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Mcgrath has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
