Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Marcus Kennedy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jason Pelaez (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Pelaez has chosen Never gonna give you up-Rick Astley as his entrance music. Buckle up people - heeeeeeeeeere we go!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Marcus Kennedy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 9 - 1, fighting out of Sydney, Jason Pelaez!
The judges for this bout are Summer Carpenter, John Mangel and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Kennedy shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Kennedy was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Pelaez is working to avoid the ground and pound but Kennedy connects with a decent elbow.

Pelaez gives up the full mount - oops, sloppy defensive grappling there!
Pelaez is looking to improve his position but Kennedy isn't that keen on the idea.

Kennedy is working for a guillotine from mount but Pelaez frees his head quite easily.
Kennedy has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Pelaez is bucking up trying to escape but Kennedy cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
Pelaez wants to control but Kennedy is having none of it.

The referee warns Pelaez that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.
Kennedy pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Kennedy goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Pelaez is on top in guard.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

The fight stays on the outside here - Pelaez looks like he's thinking about clinching though.

Kennedy closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Kennedy lands in his opponent's guard.

Marcus Kennedy overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
Kennedy is putting a hurting on Pelaez here, landing some big shots from side control.
Pelaez takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.

Pelaez wants to get back to his feet but Kennedy drags him back down.

Kennedy advances nicely into full mount.
Kennedy really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kennedy working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.

Kennedy has managed to work for a loose triangle. I think Pelaez should be able to defend this one pretty easily though. Oh, Kennedy has tightened it up now! Pelaez should have reacted faster there - he's in big trouble and yes, he's tapped out! This one is all over!
