Cottrell shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Filipovic's guard.
Cottrell won't allow Filipovic to sweep him here.

Filipovic really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Cottrell. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Cottrell lands an elbow that was bordering on illegal but the referee lets it go with a warning.

That has opened up Mirko Filipovic's cut even more.
Cottrell loads up with a big shot that hurts Filipovic! He's pulled Cottrell in close but Cottrell has postured up and lands more strikes. Can Filipovic survive? More strikes from Cottrell and Filipovic is out! The ref jumps in to save him! Brutal ground and pound!
