The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Lover.
Good shot there by Lover.
Lover moves into range and connects with a jab.
A chopping leg kick lands by Lover.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Penn shoots in and gets a takedown into Lover's guard.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Penn won't allow Lover to sweep him here.
Penn in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Penn really is a fat lump.
Lover looking to hit a scissor sweep but Penn is one step ahead there.
Penn tries to free his leg and advance position but Lover is retaining full guard.

Penn showing good wrestling skills to control the position.
Lover working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Penn.
Penn wants to pass the guard but Lover is keeping the position.
Penn throws a big elbow that misses.
Lover is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Penn has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Penn controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Lover lands with an uppercut that bounces Penn off the cage and back into range.
Lover pivots, looking for a leg kick but Penn is out of range and Lover settles back down.
Lover lands with a hook. Penn tried to avoid it but it clipped the top of his head.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Lover lands a nice shot to the body.
Lover lands a jab to Penn's midsection.
Penn is breathing heavily.

Lover lands a left and a right that send Penn crashing to the mat, dazed. Lover thinks about following him to the mat but decides to wave him back up to his feet!

It looks like Steel Penn has been cut.

Lover throws an uppercut from hell that sends Penn clean off his feet! He's out cold! Lover stands back and admires his work as he thinks about that KO of the night award that is surely being wrapped up for him back stage.
