Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Kyun-Chul Kim (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Makoto Shibasaki (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Shibasaki has chosen Genki Sudo - 'Mind Shift' as his entrance music. Kyun-Chul Kim has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Kyun-Chul Kim!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Makoto Shibasaki!
The judges for this bout are Konstantin Menshow, Ivan Kurochkin and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shibasaki ducks under a wild hook from Kim.
Shibasaki misses with a head kick.
Shibasaki keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
A jab from Shibasaki misses.
Shibasaki throws a low kick but it's checked well by Kim.
Shibasaki tries to close the distance and clinch but Kim swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Kim uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Shibasaki.
Kim looks to score with a jab to the body but Shibasaki is just out of range.
Kyun-Chul Kim seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Shibasaki misses with a hook.
Kim leaves Shibasaki with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.
Kim stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Shibasaki.

Shibasaki walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Kim checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

A decent looking body kick lands there for Shibasaki.
Kim throws a half hearted mid kick.
Kim throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Shibasaki stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Shibasaki wants to lay and pray for a moment but Kim keeps working.
Kim wants to control but Shibasaki is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Shibasaki wants to pass to mount but Kim is defending the position.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.
A lazy left from Kim finds it's target.
Kim cracks a nice hook into Shibasaki's ribs.

Kyun-Chul Kim is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Kim throws a body punch but Shibasaki moves out of range.
Kim lands with an uppercut that bounces Shibasaki off the cage and back into range.
No luck for Shibasaki with that takedown attempt.
Kim steps to his left, right into the path of a big body kick from Shibasaki. That one must have hurt.

Kim smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Kim throws a looping overhand right but Shibasaki ducks down to avoid it.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Makoto Shibasaki will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business.

Shibasaki throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.

Shibasaki has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Shibasaki there as he acknowledges the shot.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

and Shibasaki counters with a good low kick that Kim was not able to check.
Kim throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Shibasaki lands a nice hook to Kim's body. Kim takes it in his stride and looks to land his own strikes.

Shibasaki ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Shibasaki throws a leg kick which misses Kim's front leg but catches the back leg as Kim tries to avoid it.

Kim is hobbling a little on that front leg after taking quite a few leg kicks so far in this fight.

and Shibasaki counters with a nice double leg into guard.
Shibasaki wants to pass the guard but Kim is keeping the position.

Kim has Shibasaki pulled in close to control his posture.

Shibasaki loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.
Kim looking to control the pace of the fight rather than finish it.

Shibasaki shoots for a double leg takedown but Kim sprawls well. He's pushed Shibasaki's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Makoto Shibasaki showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Shibasaki fakes with a right hand and throws a good leg kick, right into the thigh. That had to hurt Kim.
Kim paws at his opponent with the jab and then lunges in with a straight, right on the button.
Shibasaki avoids the body shot from Kim.
A decent looking body kick lands there for Shibasaki.
Shibasaki throws a hook to the side of Kim's head but Kim sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Shibasaki slips a straight right by Kim.
Shibasaki shoots in but no luck this time.
Shibasaki throws a leg kick but Kim sees it coming and moves out of range.
Shibasaki has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Kim finds it's way round the side to connect with Shibasaki's head.
Kim fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Shibasaki manages to avoid it.
Shibasaki moves away from the strike by Kim.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Shibasaki keeps Kim at a distance using the push kick.
Kim walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Shibasaki tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kim paws at him with a jab and circles away.
A jab from Shibasaki does it's job there.

and Shibasaki counters with a leg kick.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Makoto Shibasaki is fighting for a decision - hopefully he's judged it right and he's actually winning the fight.

I would just about give that final round to Makoto Shibasaki.
