PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Cornelius Talmadge (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tom Turtle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Talmadge kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is Big Poppa by Notorious B.I.G. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Cornelius Talmadge!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Tom Turtle!
The judges for this bout are Paul Gruel, Josh West and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Turtle drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Turtle looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!
Talmadge managing to control the position.

Talmadge working for a triangle but Turtle defends it easily.
Talmadge will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Talmadge is pulling down on Turtle's head. It's preventing any offense from Turtle, at least for the moment.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Cornelius Talmadge wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Talmadge shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Turtle but Turtle pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Turtle shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Talmadge pinned against the cage. Talmadge gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Talmadge shoots in and drives through. Turtle sprawls well.
Turtle shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Talmadge as he jumps to the side.
Talmadge shoots in for a takedown but Turtle shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.
No luck for Turtle with that takedown attempt.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Cornelius Talmadge will probably get the nod.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

The crowd growing excited in anticipation of a finish here! Right on cue, Talmadge cracks his opponent with a massive right hand that draws loud cheers!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Turtle shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Talmadge as he avoids it easily.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Turtle can do anything to dispel that myth.
