The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Willwerth lands with a cross to side of his opponent's head.
Jones on the wrong end of a nice hook.
Willwerth thows a body shot but no joy.
The fighters circle momentarily. Willwerth darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Willwerth throws a lazy right hand but Jones sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Willwerth lands a powerful looking uppercut that connected with his opponent's jaw.
Willwerth will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Willwerth works Jones's body with a nice hook.
Willwerth cracks Jones with a good jab.
Willwerth misses with a low kick.
Willwerth fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.
Willwerth thows a left - swing and a miss!

Willwerth throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Jones.
Jones circles away from the clinch attempt.
Jones takes one on the chin but seems OK.

Willwerth fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.

Willwerth decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.
Jones tries to roll over but Willwerth keeps him under control.
Jones is not content to let Willwerth control the position.

Willwerth works his foot free and advances to mount.
Willwerth throws some wild stikes that Jones manages to avoid easily.
Willwerth has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

Jones really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Willwerth. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Jones can do anything to dispel that myth.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Jones wants to hold on but Willwerth pushes him away.
Willwerth throwing sloppy strikes, which aren't doing any damage.

Willwerth can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Jones is looking to escape.
Willwerth is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Jones is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Jones takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Jones tries to move into range but Willwerth moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.
Jones keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Willwerth tries to land a front kick but Jones steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Willwerth lunges at Jones with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Jones's hand.
Willwerth throws out a powerful jab.
Jones takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Dennis Willwerth seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Jones walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Jones looks shocked there as he takes a right hand to the temple.

Jones is rocked!
Willwerth lands a nice shot that snaps Jones's head back.
Jones is still on wobbly legs! Can Willwerth finish him?
Willwerth closes the distance and lands a vicious right hand that drops Jones! Willwerth dives in looking to finish! Jones is still trying to defend himself but he's taking too many shots and the referee has no choice but to stop the fight!
