PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Vergil Cry (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jimmy Warton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Warton is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Enae volare mezzo. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Vergil Cry!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Jimmy Warton!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Igor Prikhodko and Fedor Mirinova.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
No luck with that takedown attempt from Cry.
Warton misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Warton.
The fighters are trapped in the ropes so we're going to have a reposition here. The ref calls for a break and repositions the fighters in the center of the ring.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Cry is not content to let Warton control the position.
Cry is looking to regain half guard here but Warton keeps moving and retains side control.
Cry is working hard here to advance position.
Warton tries to get to his feet but he's trapped momentarily.

Warton goes for an armbar here - this could be all over! But no, Cry has escaped beautifully and is now on top in side control! Oh, that's unlucky for Warton but great work by Cry.

Cry wants to lay and pray for a moment but Warton keeps working.

Cry sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but Warton is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.

Cry is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Warton is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Cry with the ground and pound but Warton regains half guard under the barage of strikes.

Warton is staying active underneath Cry, who seems content to just control the action from this position.

Warton pushes Cry off looking to stand but Cry dives back in and keeps control.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Cry wants to lay and pray for a moment but Warton keeps working.

Cry lands a lovely overhand right.
Cry throws a hook but Warton blocks it.
Warton closes the distance and clinches up with Cry, looking for a takedown. Warton pushes Cry against the ropes but Cry circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Cry avoids a low kick by using good footwork.

Cry shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Cry trying to control from Warton's half guard. Warton has other ideas though and has regained full guard.
Cry wants to control from the top but Warton keeps moving.
Warton being controlled here, momentarily.

Warton must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.
Warton might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Cry kaven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

Vergil Cry overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Warton stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Cry swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Cry manages to land a sweep and now he's in mount on top!

Cry looking to control but Warton is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.

Cry has control of Warton's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Warton regains control of the situation pretty easily.

Cry is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Warton to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Warton shrugs it off.
Warton is bucking up trying to escape but Cry cracks him with another couple of good strikes.
The fighters are tangled up in the ropes here. We might need a restart if the fighters can't break free themselves.
Cry throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Warton because Cry loaded up on that one.
Cry looking to control but Warton is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Warton wants to use the ropes to get back to his feet here.

Cry trying to control but he's not successful this time.
Warton manages to regain half guard whilst avoiding the strikes.

Cry is working for a kimura but Warton is defending it quite comfortably.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

That's time! Cry's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!


Cry uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Warton.
Warton ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Warton avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Warton shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Cry stalks Warton and leaps in with a furious combination of punches. Uppercuts and crosses smash into Warton's face. Warton staggers backwards, shaken.
Warton lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Warton looks for a takedown but Cry sprawls well.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Cry.

A lull in the action here.

Warton is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Cry stops Warton from standing up.

Warton closes the distance and clinches up with Cry, looking for a takedown. Warton pushes Cry against the ropes but Cry circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.

Cry throws a shot from downtown. Warton moves away and avoids it.
Jimmy Warton seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Warton fails with the takedown.
Vergil Cry has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Jimmy Warton.
Cry ducks right into an uppercut from Warton.
Warton's hands are dropping dangerously low here and Cry connects clean with a right hook that sends him down to one knee! Warton scrambles back to his feet.
Warton lands a jab to the head.
Warton ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Cry moves away.

Warton throws a leg kick but Cry checks it.
Cry moving in and out of range nicely, whilst landing the scoring shot.

Warton bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Cry stuffs the takedown.
Cry shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Warton defends it nicely.
Nice defenses there by Cry.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Cry jabs Warton right on the nose. Warton blinks but takes it well.
Warton bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Cry lands with an uppercut that bounces Warton off the ropes and back into range.
Warton shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Cry defends it nicely.
Warton takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Cry throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Warton's waist but Warton gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Cry off to one side.
Warton misses with a hook.

Warton instigates a clinch.
Cry misses with a body punch.

Warton pulls guard successfully.

Warton wriggles free and stands up.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Cry fails to land with the punch combination there - jab, cross, hook, miss, miss, miss.
Vergil Cry is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
Warton shoots for a takedown but Cry saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Jimmy Warton.
I think Cry has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
