Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jose Rizal (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Sparky Probert (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 14 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Jose Rizal!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 8 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sparky Probert!
The judges for this bout are Jack Bonds, and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Rizal fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Rizal gets off balance looking for a body kick
and he gets countered with a snapping leg kick.
Rizal walks into a straight right hand from Probert.
A big left from Rizal misses.
Probert slips a jab and a cross from Rizal.
Rizal tries to clinch but Probert moves out of range.
Probert scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Rizal doesn't seem bothered though.

Rizal closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Rizal stands up and beckons Probert to join him on the feet.
Probert ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Rizal moves away.

Rizal gets a takedown into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Probert is trying to control but can't.

Rizal wants to work for an arm triangle but Probert is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Rizal is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Probert is looking to escape.
Rizal is keen to just control but Probert is a slippery customer.
Probert looks like he's trying to stand up.
Rizal is trying to control. Probert wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.
Rizal is controlling the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jose Rizal.
Probert scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Rizal doesn't seem bothered though.

Rizal takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.
Probert's corner calls for a 1-2. Probert obliges with the 1 part as he scores the single shot and moves back out of range.
Rizal takes a body punch that cleary hurt but he's trying not to show any weakness.
Rizal throws an ugly left hook that misses
and Probert counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Rizal tries for a takedown but Probert circles away easily
and Probert counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Probert keeps the fight on the outside.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Rizal.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jose Rizal. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Probert lands a right hook to the body.

Rizal gets cracked there but stands up to it.
Rizal falls off balance throwing a combination
and Probert counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Probert misses with a jab to the body

and Rizal counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Probert's guard now.

Rizal drops back, looking for a kneebar! Probert looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Probert looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Probert!

Probert controls the position.
Rizal is looking to reverse the position.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Probert trying to control the action but Rizal is working from the bottom.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

OK we're going to have a standup here. Sparky Probert hasn't been effective enough on the ground and the referee wants a restart.
Probert fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Jose Rizal will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Nice takedown defense from Probert. No joy for Rizal on that attempt.
Probert misses with a wild body shot.
Rizal takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Rizal has his takedown stuffed
and Probert counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
Probert ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Rizal moves away.
Rizal changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Probert tries to avoid it but Rizal manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Probert to the ground. Probert escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jose Rizal. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Rizal shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Probert as he avoids it easily.
Probert misses with a double jab
and Rizal counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Probert lands a lovely overhand right.

Rizal shoots in and gets a takedown into Probert's guard.

Probert wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Rizal manages to pass to side control.
Rizal tries to pass to full mount but Probert defends it.
Probert is trying to stand up here but Rizal is controlling him well.
Rizal is trying to control the action in half guard but Probert is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Rizal thows a huge punch but Probert dodges it nicely.
Rizal content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Rizal wants to lay and pray for a moment but Probert keeps working.
Probert really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Rizal. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Jose Rizal.
Probert throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Nice shot lands for Probert.
Rizal fails with a takedown attempt.
Rizal keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.
Probert comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
A slow jab from Rizal misses its intended target.
Probert is throwing a lot of body shots here, looking to wear down Rizal rather than just go for the knockout.
Probert scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Rizal doesn't seem bothered though.
Sparky Probert is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Probert defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Rizal.
Probert lands with an overhand left.

Rizal takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Probert lands with a nice body punch.
Rizal takes a really solid shot there but just smiles back and shrugs his shoulders.
Probert stuffs the takedown.
Probert lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Rizal backs up against the cage.


It looks like Jose Rizal has been cut.

and Probert counters with a left and a right that stings Rizal.


Rizal is rocked!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Nice body punch from Probert.
Oh Rizal is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Probert cracks a nice hook into Rizal's ribs.
Sparky Probert seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Probert lands a right hook to the body.
Sparky Probert seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Probert scores with a slapping inside leg kick.
Probert throws a shot to the body.
Jose Rizal is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Rizal walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Probert feints with a jab and clips Rizal right behind the ear with a massive overhand right! Rizal is sent crashing into the canvas and Probert leaps in for the kill! Rizal tries to get to his feet but Probert is just battering him from every conceivable angle. The ref decides that Rizal is in need of a savior and steps in!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Sparky Probert!
Sparky Probert decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
