The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Masuka has closed the distance and engaged Callis in a clinch.

Masuka gets a trip takedown into half guard.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Callis throws a strike from the bottom that misses.

Masuka is trying to work for a kimura but Callis is defending well.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Masuka seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Callis does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Masuka looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.

Masuka is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
Masuka is thwarting Callis's attempts to control the position.
Masuka thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Callis has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Masuka is working away from the top position though.
Masuka drops an elbow to the side of Callis's head.

Masuka has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Callis takes a big shot to the dome and his eyes have rolled back in his head! Masuka's killer instinct has kicked in as he finishes the fight with more strikes. Impressive finish.
