PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Marty Laguna (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Adam Gracie (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that Marty Laguna has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Marty Laguna seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 25 - 10 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Marty Laguna!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 7 - 1, fighting out of New York, Adam Gracie!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Colin Fray and Paul Gruel.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Gracie moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Laguna throws a shot from downtown. Gracie moves away and avoids it.
Gracie shoots in for a double leg but Laguna sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Gracie is defended easily by Laguna.

Gracie shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Laguna manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage.
The referee is asking the fighters to pick up the pace.
Gracie pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Laguna is keeping the position for now.
Gracie trying to control the position from guard on top but Laguna is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Laguna defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Gracie.

Laguna stuffs the takedown attempt from Gracie. Gracie gets slowly back to his feet.
Laguna swings for the body but Gracie moves out of range.
Laguna sizes up Gracie with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

The fighters circling - Laguna throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Marty Laguna seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Laguna bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Gracie wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Laguna throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.

Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.

and Laguna counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Gracie clobbers Laguna with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.
Laguna misses with a jab, cross combination.
Gracie misses with a right hand
and Laguna counters nicely by changing levels and landing a hook to the body.
Gracie pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Gracie misses with a leg kick
and Laguna makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Gracie working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Gracie wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Laguna, who protects the arm well.

Gracie shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Laguna but Laguna pushes him off and we're back to square one.

Gracie bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Laguna tries to sprawl but Gracie drives through with a takedown into half guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Laguna is looking to escape.
Gracie thows a huge punch but Laguna dodges it nicely.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Marty Laguna will probably get the nod.

Gracie stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.

Gracie shoots in and gets a takedown into Laguna's guard.

Gracie wants to control from the top but Laguna keeps moving.
Gracie connects with a couple of short punches.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Gracie lands a couple of digs.
Gracie slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Laguna controls the position for a moment.
Laguna on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Laguna tries to get out of the position.
Laguna tries to get back to half guard but can't.

Gracie tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Gracie has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Gracie lands a nice forearm strike.
Laguna is looking for a sweep.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Laguna parries the strikes from Gracie easily there. Gracie is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Laguna to escape.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Gracie has hold of Laguna's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Laguna seems comfortable defending it but Gracie has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Laguna is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Laguna is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Gracie couldn't care less - he's delighted!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:57 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Adam Gracie!
Adam Gracie seemed lost for words in his post fight interview but he remembered to thank his fans and directed everyone to his website.
