Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Rob Rod (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Derek Moriga (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rod comes to the cage accompanied by Young Jeezy-Lose My Mind. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Rob Rod!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Alexandre Firmino, Daniel Cesar and Seu Braga.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sloppy strikes from Rod. Those never looked like landing.
Moriga fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Moriga throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Rod swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Rod misses with a double jab.
Rod falls off balance throwing a combination

and Moriga counters with a single leg into guard. Rod didn't expect that.
The referee looks like he's ready to step in and stand the fighters back up.
Moriga trying to move into half guard but instead Rod has managed to sweep!
Rod prevents Moriga from getting back to his feet.

Moriga is working an open guard so Rod takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Rod misses with a few strikes there.
Moriga is trying hard to land a takedown here. Rod sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Moriga looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Rod!
Moriga throwing strikes but Rod manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!

Rod has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Moriga dodges the punch combination from Rod.
Rod misses with a looping right.
Rod lands a jab. Then a cross. Then finally a nice hook to the body. Good work there by Rod.
Rod throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Nice defenses there by Moriga.
Moriga closes the distance and clinches up with Rod, looking for a takedown. Moriga pushes Rod against the cage but Rod circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Rob Rod has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Derek Moriga.
Rod keeps the fight on the outside.
Moriga dodges the punch combination from Rod.
Rod throws a left and a right that both miss

and Moriga counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Rod's guard now.
Rod is breathing heavily.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Moriga lands a nice shot whilst sitting in his opponent's guard.
Moriga throws a big right hand that misses.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rod wants to get back to his feet.
Rod regains full guard, whilst avoiding punches from Moriga.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Moriga throwing shots from guard but he's hitting more mat than opponent.
Moriga cracks Rod with a solid left hand.
Moriga pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Rod is keeping the position for now.
Moriga in full guard, throwing the ground and pound. No damage this time.
Moriga stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Rod swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Moriga postures up in Rod's guard and throws a big left but Rod blocks it.
Moriga pushes down on Rod's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Moriga sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Rod defending well though.
Moriga missing with the ground and pound from half guard.
Moriga tries to pass to full mount but Rod defends it.
Moriga is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Rod wants to get back to his feet.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Moriga lands with a punch from half guard.
Moriga takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Derek Moriga dominated that round.
That's time! Rod's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Rod scores with a hook.

Moriga feints and as Rod raises his hands in defense, Moriga changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.
Moriga content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.
Moriga throwing strikes from guard but Rod blocks nicely.
Moriga postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.
Moriga trying to move into half guard but instead Rod has managed to sweep!
Moriga is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Rod is controlling him.

Rod gets to his feet. Moriga looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!
Rod lands a big right hand and follows it up with an uppercut. Oh and another big punch and a knee - Moriga can't take much more of this! Another big shot to the jaw from Rod and Moriga drops to the floor. Beaten and bloodied - he had enough there. A vicious beatdown by Rod.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:31 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Rob Rod!
Rob Rod was full of energy after the big win and talked about how he thinks he can do big things in this sport. The crowd were appreciative of his determination to succeed.
