PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight kickboxing rules bout between Georges Penn (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Captain Kat (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Penn comes to the ring accompanied by "Don't You Wish You Were Me?". Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Georges Penn!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Captain Kat!
The judges for this bout are Shirou Masuda, Shigeki Sano and Shigeki Fujiwara.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Penn takes a body kick right on the floating rib. Ouchie.
Kat throws a body kick that sends a sickening thudding noise reverberating around the arena.
Penn takes a head kick and shrugs it off.
A head kick misses from Kat.
Kat throws a sloppy head kick

and Penn counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Penn trying to pass the guard but Kat defending well.
Penn slows the pace down in half guard.

Penn postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Kat to stand up.
Penn blocks a head kick by Kat.
Kat misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Penn instigates a clinch.
Kat is trying to break the clinch but Penn has him pressed against the ropes.
Penn with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Penn tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.
Kat has had enough of the clinch but Penn keeps him there for the moment.
The referee is keeping an eye on Penn - much more stalling and he will separate the fighters.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Kat prevents Penn from breaking the clinch.
A frustrated look appears on Penn's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Kat tries to break free but Penn pushes him back against the ropes.
Kat is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the ropes.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Kat is looking to break free of the clinch but Penn has double underhooks.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Captain Kat will probably get the nod.
That's time! Back to the action!

Kat throws a head kick but Penn moves out of range.
Penn avoids the head kick by Kat.
Kat throws a head kick that misses
and Penn counters with a kick to the head that grazes his opponent. Kat is lucky that one didn't land flush.
Kat lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Kat has a nice red mark on his side after a thudding body kick by Penn.
Kat goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Kat tries a head kick but it misses.

Kat lands a front kick to the face, that drops Penn to the canvas! Is he dazed or just shocked? He's back to his feet and the referee is going to allow him to continue the fight!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Captain Kat seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Kat lands with a nice body kick.
Kat throws a right high kick that is partially blocked by Penn.

Penn is rocked!

Kat throws a sloppy head kick
and Penn counters with a big head kick but Kat shrugs it off.
Penn tries a head kick but it misses.
Kat throws a sloppy head kick and Penn moves out of range easily.
Kat throws a quick inside leg kick.
Kat throws a wild body kick that Penn sees coming a mile off.
Penn walks into a perfectly timed head kick by Kat and drops face first to the floor! Penn's eyes are wide open but he's not all there - he's just flopping around the mat like a drunk on rollerskates! The referee doesn't even start the count - he's called an end to the fight, with Penn in no position to continue!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:40 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Head Kick). Captain Kat!
