PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Makosi Karolczak (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Otter Odder (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Makosi Karolczak!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Otter Odder!
The judges for this bout are Sergei Dronov, Fedor Mirinova and Dmitry Maklakov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Odder closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
You can see the frustration on Karolczak's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Karolczak is trying to improve his position.
Karolczak is trying to get back to half guard. He's pushing on Odder's leg. He's managed it. Nice work.
Karolczak is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Karolczak wants to sweep but Odder has passed to side control!
Karolczak tries to improve position but can't.
Karolczak throwing some weak shots from the bottom that do no damage.
Karolczak is trying to control Odder's posture but Odder avoids it.

Odder is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Karolczak knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.
Odder wants to control but Karolczak is keeping him busy.
Karolczak manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.

Karolczak looking for a guillotine here but Odder defends easily.
Karolczak trying to strike from the bottom but really, it's not the best position to be doing that from!
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!

Karolczak working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Odder doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Odder manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Karolczak looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Odder stays in close to Karolczak's body and controls the position.
Karolczak striking off his back but it's not causing Odder any problems.

Karolczak lands a beautiful switch and he's in full mount! That could spell trouble for Odder!
Odder is desperately trying to improve his position but Karolczak has a good base and remains in mount.
Karolczak really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Karolczak takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.
Odder is trying to escape the mount.
Karolczak will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Karolczak tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Makosi Karolczak.

Odder shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Karolczak napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Karolczak tries to improve position but can't.
Odder really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Karolczak. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

Karolczak is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Odder is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.
Karolczak is looking to reverse the position.
You can see the frustration on Karolczak's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Makosi Karolczak dominated that round.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!



Odder moves into the clinch.
Odder has a body lock and is looking for a takedown. Karolczak is bouncing around trying to prevent the takedown and somehow he has indeed managed to stay on his feet.
Odder lands with a quick shot inside that doesn't really do much damage.
Karolczak misses with a knee strike.

Karolczak escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Odder fails with a takedown attempt.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Odder is defended easily by Karolczak.
Makosi Karolczak has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Otter Odder.
Odder fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
A nice inside leg kick there by Odder. That's going to slow Karolczak down.

Odder looks for a takedown but Karolczak sprawls well.

Odder decides to change it up a bit and drives through with a nice takedown into half guard.

Karolczak kicks off Odder and gets to his feet.
Horrible takedown by Odder or perhaps it was just good defense by Karolczak which made him look bad.
Odder tries to close the distance and clinch but Karolczak swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Karolczak stuffs the takedown attempt from Odder. Odder gets slowly back to his feet.
Karolczak defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Odder.
Odder is breathing heavily.

Odder shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Karolczak tries to strike from the bottom but it doesn't land.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

Karolczak is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Odder's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Odder's back!
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Makosi Karolczak overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Makosi Karolczak wasn't doing enough on the ground.

Karolczak throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Odder tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Karolczak is in Odder's guard.
Karolczak is standing up over Odder. Odder looks to escape but Karolczak dives into side control.
Odder trying his best to control but Karolczak has mounted him.
Karolczak tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Karolczak has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Odder is trying desperately to improve position.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close second round but I would say that Makosi Karolczak will probably get the nod.
The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action! And we move into the final round!

Odder throws a sloppy head kick and Karolczak moves out of range easily.
Karolczak fails with a takedown attempt from distance.
Nice takedown defense from Karolczak. No joy for Odder on that attempt.

Odder scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.

Odder is working for a kimura but Karolczak is defending it quite comfortably.

Karolczak throws a couple of heel strikes.

Oh but Karolczak is tightening it up a little... Odder has to be careful here... He's got his foot tucked under now, this looks tight! Odder reacted too slowly and this one could be over in a matter of seconds! YES! Odder taps out! Nice BJJ there by Karolczak!
