Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jackson Colt!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Taneli Maija!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Columbo Gatti and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Colt shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Colt showed some decent athleticism there.
Colt really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
Colt winds up and cracks Maija with a swinging punch to the side of the head.
Maija trying to hold on to Colt's head to control him but Colt postures up.

Colt sitting in half guard, looking to land shots. Maija defending well though.
Colt is thwarting Maija's attempts to control the position.
Colt wants to control but Maija is keeping him busy.
Colt thows a huge punch but Maija dodges it nicely.

Colt knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Maija on the ground.
Maija tries to get to full guard but Colt has control of the leg.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.
Maija tries to score a power double leg takedown but Colt sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Maija somewhat.

Maija working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Colt doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Colt manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Maija is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Colt is aware though and is defending well.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The ref stands the fighters back up, due to lack of action by Taneli Maija.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Maija enables Colt to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Maija manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.
Colt wants to control from the top but Maija keeps moving.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Maija utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Colt controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Colt slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

We're going to have a standup here because Jackson Colt wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Maija tries to sprawl but Colt drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Maija moves into full guard.

Maija escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Colt gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Maija is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Maija is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Colt has his hands clasped together but Maija extends an breaks Colt's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Maija.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:58 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Armbar). Taneli Maija!
Our winner, Taneli Maija, made sure he spent some time buttering up the crowd during his post fight interview, which will no doubt bring him a few more fans.
