Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Anderson Silva!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 1 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Rahmi Guler !
The judges for this bout are Viktor Lagutenko, Aleksandr Martynov and Valeri Chadov.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Silva throws a head kick that looked like it stung.
Guler shoots in looking for a takedown but Silva manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Guler 's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Silva stuffs the takedown.
Guler looks winded!

Silva gets a double leg takedown into Guler 's guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Silva wants to pass the guard but Guler is keeping the position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.
Guler is not content to let Silva control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Silva is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Guler to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Guler shrugs it off.

Silva pushes Guler up against the cage in a clinch.
Guler has Silva pressed against the cage, preventing Silva from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Silva jumps into guard, dragging Guler to the mat.
Silva wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Guler manages to pass to side control.
Guler is looking to take a break and control but Silva is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Silva is looking for a sweep. Guler is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Guler takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Silva wants to control but Guler is keeping busy and won't allow it.
Silva looks like he's trying to stand up.
We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Silva gets full guard.
Silva is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Guler enables Silva to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Guler manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

We're going to have a standup here because Anderson Silva wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Well Silva has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
