PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Josh Miller (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Heero Yagami (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Josh Miller!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Heero Yagami!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Tiny Johnson and George Francis.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Yagami thumps Miller with a low kick.
Miller shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Yagami but Yagami pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Miller misses with a few strikes there.
A slapping leg kick lands for Yagami.
Yagami shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Miller as he avoids it easily.
Miller swats away the attempt to clinch by Yagami.
Miller throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Yagami tries to score a power double leg takedown but Miller sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Yagami somewhat.
Miller keeps the fight on the outside.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Miller is looking to clinch but Yagami is avoiding it.
Yagami swats away the attempt to clinch by Miller.
Miller tries to clinch there but Yagami circles away.

Miller scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Miller really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.

Miller decides to stand and escape the position.
Miller tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.

Miller shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Miller misses with a head shot. Yagami uses the momentum to regain guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Yagami looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Miller puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Miller wants to work for an arm triangle but Yagami is really keeping half guard well and defending the submission attempt.

Miller is really struggling to control Yagami but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Miller is standing up over Yagami. Yagami looks to escape but Miller dives into side control.
Miller is looking to take a break and control but Yagami is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Miller misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Yagami is not content to let Miller control the position.
You can see the frustration on Yagami's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Yagami is staying active underneath Miller, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
Yagami is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Miller tries to pass to full mount but Yagami defends it.
Miller wants to control but Yagami is keeping him busy.

We're going to have a standup here because Josh Miller wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
The sound of bone on bone echoes around the arena as Yagami checks a leg kick.

Miller changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Yagami looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Miller swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Yagami is now in Miller's guard. A big mistake from Miller there, giving up the dominant position!

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Josh Miller.
Yagami fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.

Miller drives through with a takedown into guard.
Miller will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

Miller shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Yagami napping and manages to drive through into side control!

The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.
Miller wants to control but Yagami is keeping busy.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Josh Miller just wasn't active enough.
Miller throws a lazy body kick
and Yagami makes him pay by landing a thudding low kick.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Yagami enables Miller to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Yagami manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Miller decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Yagami, up you get!

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Miller closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Yagami's guard.

Miller looking to sit in guard and control but Yagami gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.
Yagami takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Josh Miller showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Miller has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
