Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Bob Johnson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ricky Burns (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Johnson comes to the cage accompanied by Renegade. Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Bob Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of London, Ricky Burns!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Richard Clark and Paul Tew.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Johnson fakes an overhand right and shoots for a takedown. Burns sprawls well initially but Johnson persists and gets the takedown into half guard.

Johnson is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.
Johnson passes to full mount!
Johnson controlling his opponent.
Burns squirming around on the bottom, looking to escape.

Johnson has hold of Burns's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Burns manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Burns is trying to get back to his feet but can't.

We're going to have a standup here because Bob Johnson wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.

It looks like Ricky Burns has been cut.
Johnson tries to shoot in for a takedown. He's got hold of a leg but Burns swivels and escapes.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Johnson is defended easily by Burns.

Johnson shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Burns's guard.

Johnson drops back looking for a leg! Burns is in trouble here! The fighters roll with the hold and Burns manages to kick Johnson off! Johnson jumps back into Burns's guard.

Johnson controlling from the guard. I say controlling but really, he's stalling.
Johnson advances to half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Burns is trying to stand back up but Johnson is controlling him
Johnson seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Johnson seems to be working for a kimura but Burns defends the submission attempt.

Bob Johnson overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Bob Johnson.
Johnson moves forwards but Burns connects with a nice, crisp jab.

Johnson shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Burns napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Burns wants to get back to his feet but Johnson drags him back down.
Burns is looking to get back to his feet here but Johnson is keeping cool and he's managed to take Burns's back.
Johnson slows the pace down here. Having a little breather whilst he's in a dominant position, looking to rest and regain some energy, ready to go for the finish.

Burns controlling the position well but he knows he's in a bad position.
Burns is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Johnson.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The ref stands the fighters back up because Bob Johnson just wasn't active enough.

Johnson closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.

Johnson shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Burns's guard.
Burns wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Johnson manages to pass to side control.

Burns is trying to stand up here but Johnson is controlling him well.

Johnson has control of Burns's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Burns regains control of the situation pretty easily.
Burns is not a happy chappy… he wants out of there.

Johnson looks like he's working for a submission but he's not found anything just yet.

Johnson won't let Burns get back to his feet... He wants to keep the fight where it is for now.

Johnson has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

Johnson seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Burns for as long as he can get away with.

Burns is trying to escape but when you're mounted that's not too easy.
