Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Eli Bernstein!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Nate Oswalt!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Sosuke Kotani and Yasuomi Hirokawa.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Oswalt feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
Oswalt tries to free his leg and advance position but Bernstein is retaining full guard.
Bernstein avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Bernstein on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Bernstein tries to get out of the position.

Bernstein wriggles free and stands up.
Bernstein moves away from the strike by Oswalt.

Oswalt tries to keep at a distance but Bernstein has taken the fight into the clinch.

Oswalt decides to pull guard.
Oswalt avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Bernstein's corner. There ya go! There ya go!

It looks like Nate Oswalt has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Bernstein landing with the ground and pound.

Oswalt looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Bernstein passes into side control.
Bernstein has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Oswalt tries to bench press Bernstein off him but Bernstein keeps the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Bernstein is looking to take a break and control but Oswalt is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Bernstein tries to advance to mount but can't.
Oswalt takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Bernstein is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Oswalt is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Oswalt is trying to get back to half guard.
Bernstein works to advance to full mount. Oswalt defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.
Bernstein lands with some vicious ground and pound - can Oswalt hang on?

That has opened up Nate Oswalt's cut even more.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Bernstein is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Oswalt can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Nate Oswalt's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Nate Oswalt's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

In his post fight interview, Eli Bernstein started talking himself up. Luckily his charisma kept the crowd on side and gave him a good reception.
