Kendricks has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
Shank is positioning himself to get back to half guard.
Shank managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Kendricks.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Shank parries the strikes from Kendricks easily there. Kendricks is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Shank to escape.
Shank tries to buck Kendricks off but Kendricks is having none of it.
Kendricks could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Shank is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Kendricks with the ground and pound but Shank regains half guard under the barage of strikes.
Kendricks slips a nice elbow through Shank's hands, connecting with Shank's forehead.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Kendricks has hold of the far side arm. He's working for the Kimura, can Shank defend it? Kendricks steps over the head and cranks it - Shank is tapping out! That was textbook stuff right there - nice submission victory for Kendricks!
