Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 2 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 9 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Alan Kolodin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Jim Steel!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Shigeki Sano and Yuuki Gou.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Steel tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Kolodin paws at him with a jab and circles away.
Steel throws a lazy right hand but Kolodin sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.

Steel closes the distance and pushes Kolodin back into the cage.
Steel misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Kolodin.
Steel tries to land a knee to the head but misses.
Steel tries to land knees in the clinch but Kolodin avoids the damage to the body.
Steel tries to land knees in the clinch but Kolodin avoids the damage to the body.
Kolodin on the defensive, avoiding the knees to the body.

Kolodin lands a nice trip takedown into half guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.
Steel controlling the position well.
Steel is trying to stand back up but Kolodin is controlling him
Kolodin looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Steel with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Kolodin moves nicely into side control.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Kolodin throwing strikes but Steel manages to buck up and roll into a nice reversal - now he's on top in side control!
Kolodin tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Steel wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Steel wants to stand but Kolodin has him controlled and pulls him back into his guard.
Steel wants to get up but he can't break Kolodin's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Kolodin is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Kolodin looking to hit a scissor sweep but Steel is one step ahead there.

Steel must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Steel stands and steps away. Kolodin gets to his feet too and we're back to the striking game.
Kolodin misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Jim Steel seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Kolodin fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Steel avoids it really well and circles away.
Steel wants to clinch but Kolodin slips to the side
and Kolodin connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Steel tries to clinch up but Kolodin circles away and keeps his distance.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Kolodin swings for the body but Steel moves out of range.
Kolodin dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Steel moves in looking to clinch but Kolodin pushes him off.
Steel wants to clinch

and Kolodin counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.
Steel gets back to full guard.
Kolodin trying to control but Steel is working from the bottom.

Kolodin has gone for a leg lock! Steel slips out almost immediately though and dives into Kolodin's guard.
Steel has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Kolodin is proving hard to escape from.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Kolodin throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Steel has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Kolodin to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Steel is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Kolodin pulls down on the head and he's put Steel to sleep! This one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:45 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Triangle). Alan Kolodin!
