Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between frank jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Gene Palmer (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, frank jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Gene Palmer!
The judges for this bout are Bruno Hogan, Hugh Johnson and Skip Squint.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Palmer tries to clinch but jones moves out of range.
jones shoots for a double leg takedown but Palmer sprawls well. He's pushed jones's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Palmer wants to improve his position but jones is controlling well.
jones slows the pace down in half guard.

Palmer is doing well to control the position and prevent jones from advancing to side control.

Palmer throws a couple of strikes even though he's not really in a good position to do so.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

The referee has ruled that neither fighter is active enough on the ground and has stood them back up.

jones has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Palmer is looking to control jones's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Palmer avoid being mounted?

Palmer has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. jones is working away from the top position though.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with jones in particular looking to stall.
Palmer takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.

Palmer makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Palmer.

Palmer has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but jones can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

and jones counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Palmer!

jones takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for jones, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
