Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the featherweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.

And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 14 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Vaughn Shaunessey!
The judges for this bout are Illya Tyunina, Aleksandr Martynov and Aleksei Zolotukhin.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Shaunessey clobbers Silva with an overhand right that has the crowd gasping. That made a horrendous noise.

Shaunessey has closed the distance and engaged Silva in a clinch.

Shaunessey escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Silva on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Silva jabs Shaunessey to the body, keeping him at a distance.
Shaunessey digs a good body shot into Silva's ribs.
Silva tries to clinch but Shaunessey is having none of it.
Silva avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Shaunessey stooping low to avoid any incoming strikes and then lunges in with an uppercut come cross that lands flush.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Silva closes the distance and pushes Shaunessey back into the cage.
Shaunessey gets underhooks to prevent Silva's takedown attempt.
Silva blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Shaunessey prevents a body shot from Silva.
Shaunessey lands a knee to the body.
Silva throws a punch but it's blocked by Shaunessey.

A bit of stalling here from Shaunessey.
Shaunessey throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Silva blocks it with crossed arms.

Shaunessey lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Silva lands a hook that snaps the head of Shaunessey backwards.
The two fighters are working to gain dominance in the clinch.
Silva lands a nice uppercut.
A short left from Shaunessey.
Silva drops down looking for an ankle pick but Shaunessey pulls his leg out and moves away.
Shaunessey throws the left hand but Silva avoids the punch easily.
Silva tries to clinch
and Shaunessey counters with a nice body kick.
Shaunessey connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Silva momentarily.

It looks like Marcos Silva has been cut.
Shaunessey lands a leg kick and bounces back out of range.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Silva pivots as if he's going to throw a leg kick but stops half way.
Silva is looking to clinch but Shaunessey is avoiding it.
Silva has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Shaunessey finds it's way round the side to connect with Silva's head.

Shaunessey avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
A big left from Silva misses.
Silva tries to close the distance and clinch up but Shaunessey swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Silva gets his head snapped back by a nice shot there.
A big right from Shaunessey misses.

Shaunessey lands a big head kick that sends Silva tumbling to the mat! Shaunessey takes a step backwards and waves Silva back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Silva is rocked!
Shaunessey scoring well with a low kick there.
Oh Silva is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Silva chopped to the floor by a nice leg kick but he springs right back up before Shaunessey can pounce on him.
Shaunessey cracks the inside of Silva's front leg.
Silva walks straight into a right hand from Shaunessey - that's dropped him! Shaunessey jumps into mount and starts pounding away - can he finish?! More strikes go undefended and the referee has to dive in to save Silva from any more punishment! Silva complains about the stoppage but falls over as he tries to stand back up, so it was clearly a good stoppage.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:41 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Vaughn Shaunessey! Vaughn Shaunessey retains his featherweight title!
During a confident post fight interview, Vaughn Shaunessey thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
