The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Serizawa gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Richards to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Serizawa wants to stand up but Richards is controlling him.
Richards postures up in Serizawa's guard and throws a big left but Serizawa blocks it.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Ben Richards wasn't doing enough on the ground.
Richards misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Richards lands with a nice combination. Serizawa backs away looking to recover.

It looks like Tamao Serizawa has been cut.
Serizawa slips a jab and a cross from Richards.
Richards bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.

Richards shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Serizawa keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Serizawa takes a swing at Richards's ribcage but misses.
Richards tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Serizawa manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Richards throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Richards connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
Richards throws a right hand that Serizawa ducks under and follows up with a left that Serizawa also avoids with ease.

Richards closes the distance and clinches.
Serizawa can't break the clinch.
Serizawa is trying to break free.
Richards lands with a short head shot on the inside.

Richards manages to break the clinch.
Serizawa swings for the body but Richards moves out of range.
Richards lands a jab followed by a nice looking cross.

Serizawa is rocked!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Richards has taken the fight to the clinch.
Serizawa is still on wobbly legs! Can Richards finish him?
Richards creates a bit of space for himself and rocks Serizawa with a big uppercut! Serizawa tries to clinch up but Richards pushes him back against the cage and lands another monster strike that crumples Serizawa to the mat! Serizawa covers up and Richards unloads with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!

A determined Ben Richards didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it!
