PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gustavo Machado (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jon Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Machado comes to the cage accompanied by November Rain. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Machado throws a head kick that misses.

Jones closes the distance and takes a jab right on the nose as he does so.
Machado scores with a kick to the body.
Jones shoots in for a takedown but Machado shows good takedown defense.
Machado throws a head kick that connects with a bit of head and a bit of hand.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Machado rushes Jones and presses him up against the cage.
Jones goes for a takedown in the clinch but Machado prevents it.

Jones has Machado pressed against the cage, preventing Machado from circling away and getting back to striking at range.

Machado manages to break the clinch.

Jones keeps control of Machado as he tries to wriggle out of the double underhooks.
Machado using the Thai plumb to throw knees but Jones has his back arched nicely, preventing the strike.

Jones scores with a takedown into Machado's guard.

Machado pushes Jones off and gets back to his feet.
Jones is trying hard to land a takedown here. Machado sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Machado tries a head kick but it misses.
Machado tries to clinch but Jones moves out of range.
Jones takes a head kick and keeps coming.

Jones tries to keep at a distance but Machado has taken the fight into the clinch.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Machado misses with a knee strike.
Jones drops down looking for an ankle pick but Machado pulls his leg out and moves away.
A head kick misses from Machado.
Jones changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Machado tries to avoid it but Jones manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Machado to the ground. Machado escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Machado throws a head kick that Jones semi-blocks.

Machado moves into range and clinches up with Jones.

Machado's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Jones avoids the head kick by Machado.
Machado tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Machado is breathing heavily.

and Jones counters with a driving takedown into guard. Nice work there by Jones.
Both fighters really going for it on the ground here!
Jones wants to control from the top but Machado keeps moving.
Machado wants to get back to his feet but Jones is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Jones is working Machado over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Jones sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Machado's guard.
Jones seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Machado does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Jones should think about turning a few of those tyres round his middle into muscle if he wants people to take him seriously as an athlete.
Jones prevents Machado from standing back up.

Machado knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Jones on the ground.

Machado is defending against the submission attempts here by Jones.
Jones looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.

Jones moves into full mount! Machado won't be happy about that!
Machado really wants to buck Jones off and get back to his feet.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Jones working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Machado turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Jones off and cradles Machado's limp body as Jones celebrates with his corner.

A determined Jon Jones didn't want to dwell on this fight in his post fight interview. Instead he was more keen to state he wants a title shot. Let's see if he gets it!
