Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Kim Figueroa (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Joey De Andreas (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Figueroa comes to the cage accompanied by Ride the Lighting. De Andreas is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Rocky. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 24 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Kim Figueroa!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 17 - 15 - 1, fighting out of Amsterdam, Joey De Andreas!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Frank Dennis and Stewart Dunkirk.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Figueroa throws a lazy right hand but De Andreas sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Figueroa falls off balance throwing a combination

and De Andreas counters with a shoot takedown into half guard.

De Andreas is looking for a kimura but he's never going to get it from there.
De Andreas looks to land a strike but Figueroa avoids it nicely and regains full guard.
De Andreas trying to pass the guard. He's being very persistent here but Figueroa manages to land a sweep and now he's on top!
Figueroa slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
De Andreas is trying to improve his position.
Figueroa postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
De Andreas is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

De Andreas is looking to control Figueroa's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can De Andreas avoid being mounted?
De Andreas moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

De Andreas working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Figueroa doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Figueroa manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
You can see the frustration on De Andreas's face as Figueroa controls the position.
De Andreas is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Figueroa prevents De Andreas from improving his position.
Figueroa seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but De Andreas does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

We're going to have a standup here because Kim Figueroa wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
De Andreas shoots in for a takedown but Figueroa shows good takedown defense there and keeps this one on the feet.

Figueroa connects with an inside leg kick.
Figueroa fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches De Andreas on the side of the head.
Kim Figueroa seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
De Andreas tries to check the leg kick but that clearly hurt him.
Figueroa feints and then cracks De Andreas's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow De Andreas down.
Figueroa throws a low kick but De Andreas moves out of range easily.

De Andreas keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Figueroa has managed to clinch.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Figueroa gets underhooks to prevent De Andreas's takedown attempt.
Figueroa lands a right hand.
Figueroa prevents a takedown attempt there.
Kim Figueroa has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Joey De Andreas.
De Andreas has Figueroa pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Figueroa manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Figueroa stalling here - the referee won't stand for too much of that.

De Andreas is trying to drag Figueroa to the mat but Figueroa just about manages to keep his footing. He used the cage to his advantage there.

De Andreas changes levels and goes for a takedown here. Figueroa fights it off and pushes away nicely.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Figueroa cracks De Andreas with a good jab.
De Andreas changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Figueroa tries to avoid it but De Andreas manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Figueroa to the ground. Figueroa escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Figueroa loads up on a big right hand but De Andreas slips the punch.
Figueroa takes a swing at De Andreas's ribcage but misses.

De Andreas tries to lock up and control but Figueroa gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Figueroa is landing with some decent strikes but De Andreas is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
De Andreas is in a horrible position here, under a barrage of strikes, he's managing to avoid any damage.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!


De Andreas closes this distance looking for a takedown but Figueroa circles away.

Figueroa feints with a shoulder and throws a nice leg kick to De Andreas's calf.

Figueroa works for underhooks and lands a body shot in the process.
De Andreas takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Figueroa gets through De Andreas's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Figueroa lands a left hand.


De Andreas is rocked!
Figueroa lands a hook that snaps the head of De Andreas backwards.
De Andreas is still on wobbly legs! Can Figueroa finish him?
Figueroa creates a bit of space for himself and rocks De Andreas with a big uppercut! De Andreas tries to clinch up but Figueroa pushes him back against the cage and lands another monster strike that crumples De Andreas to the mat! De Andreas covers up and Figueroa unloads with more strikes until the referee steps in to end the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:23 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punches). Kim Figueroa!
