Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Frank Da Silva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Jake Powell (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Powell has chosen Blame It on the Alcohol by Of Mice & Men as his entrance music. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Da Silva looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Powell is fending him off so far but Da Silva persists. Nope, Powell circles away and we're back to standing.
Da Silva fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Powell avoids it really well and circles away.
Powell falls off balance throwing a combination

and Da Silva counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Powell's guard now.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Powell can do anything to dispel that myth.

Da Silva postures up in Powell's guard and throws a big left but Powell blocks it.
Da Silva throws a strike but Powell rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Da Silva working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Powell doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Powell manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
