Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Demetrius Colrane (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Zanderson Zilva (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Demetrius Colrane had a look across the cage there at his opponent. He definitely means business

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the middleweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 7 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Demetrius Colrane!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Zanderson Zilva!
The judges for this bout are Trevor Gratis, Steve Smith and Robert Douchet.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Zilva cracks Colrane with a good jab.
Zilva misses with a lunging right hand
and Colrane counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Zilva looks to land a body kick but Colrane moved away.
Zilva jabs Colrane to the body, keeping him at a distance.

Zilva forces Colrane back against the cage and clinches.

Zilva pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
A looping hook to the body misses from Colrane. Zilva does a little dance to reset his feet.
Good standup being displayed there by Zilva as he connects with a hook.
Zilva lands a jab.

Zilva instigates a clinch.
Zilva wants to break the clinch but can't.
Colrane lands with a right to the head.
Zilva is trying to push Colrane away but Colrane has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Colrane fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Zilva manages to avoid it.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

and Colrane decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Zilva's guard.

The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.

A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Colrane accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.

Colrane has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up, due to lack of activity on the part of Demetrius Colrane.
Colrane just misses with a punch to the body.
Zilva displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Colrane.
Colrane will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Zilva throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Colrane stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Colrane is defended easily by Zilva.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Demetrius Colrane. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Zilva darts in and out, connecting with a jab.

and Zilva counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Zilva connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

and Zilva counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Colrane ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.

Zilva throws the left hand but Colrane avoids the punch easily.

Zilva might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Zilva wants to stand and escape but Colrane is having none of it.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Zilva can't keep his opponent in guard - Colrane advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.

That was a close round but I would say that Demetrius Colrane will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Zilva dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Colrane. That did some damage!

Colrane got a little sloppy there for a moment and Zilva has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Colrane has managed to get both his arms back between Zilva's legs - danger averted.

Colrane is landing big shots and Zilva is squirming looking to escape! He can't escape though and the ref jumps in to end the fight!
