The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kurze throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Chavez rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Kurze moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
A jab lands there for Kurze.
Chavez misses with a low kick.
Thud! ouch! good body kick from Chavez - that will leave a mark!
Kurze misses with an uppercut
and Chavez counters with a nice low kick that buckles Kurze's knee momentarily.

Chavez drives through and clinches with Kurze against the cage.

Chavez prevents a body shot from Kurze.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Chavez tries a knee to the head but Kurze blocks it.

Kurze fails to pull guard.
Chavez misses with a short punch on the inside.

Kurze jumps into guard, dragging Chavez to the mat.
The referee must be thinking about standing these guys back up.
Kurze seems keen to control rather than go for a submission, at least for now.
Kurze looking to sweep here. No luck so far.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Chavez's corner is telling him to maintain position.
Kurze is pulling down on Chavez's head. It's preventing any offense from Chavez, at least for the moment.

We're going to have a standup here because Miguel Chavez wasn't active enough for the referee's liking.
Kurze scores with a hook to the body. Chavez takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.

Chavez throws a right and a left that Kurze avoids nicely.
Chavez throws a jab but it's blocked by Kurze.
Kurze changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Chavez moves out of range as Kurze strikes.
Kurze scores with a reasonable looking shot to the body. Chavez doesn't seem bothered though.
Kurze ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Chavez moves away.
A lazy body kick from Chavez
and Kurze counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Kurze ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Chavez ducks under a wild hook from Kurze.
Chavez misses with a body kick.
Miguel Chavez is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Kurze connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Chavez tries to score with an inside leg kick but telegraphs it and Kurze is able to avoid easily.
Chavez misses with a head kick.
Well, he's not going to score with shots like that. A lazy body kick attempt from Chavez.

Kurze takes a head kick and shrugs it off.

Chavez clinches up with Kurze and pushes him back against the cage.
Kurze goes for a body shot but it's blocked.
Chavez's corner are urging him to control the action in the clinch for a moment, rather than mount any serious offense. I'm sure the crowd appreciate those instructions... not.

Kurze tries to take the fight to the ground by pulling guard but can't manage it.
Kurze fails to land with a short punch on the inside.
A head punch on the inside from Chavez fails to land.
Chavez wants to strike at distance but he can't break free of the clinch.
Kurze misses with a punch to the body.
Chavez misses the knee to the body. Nice hip positioning from Kurze.
Chavez lands an elbow inside that Kurze shrugs off.

Chavez drops Kurze with a big knee straight up the middle! Kurze is covering up against the cage but manages to escape and gets back to his feet!

Kurze is rocked!

It looks like Konrad Kurze has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
