PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Gandalf Grey (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Kenny McCormick (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Grey kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is You shall not pass. I can't wait for this one - let's get the fighter introductions out of the way and get this one started!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

McCormick fails with the takedown.
Grey throws a poor cross that misses
and McCormick counters with an outside leg kick.

and McCormick counters with a thumping low kick.
McCormick moves away from the strike by Grey.
McCormick on the wrong end of an overhand right that came out of nowhere.
Grey displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from McCormick.
Grey throws a solid leg kick but McCormick takes the impact on his shin and smiles at Grey.
Grey loads up on a big right hand but McCormick slips the punch.

This has been an exciting period of action!

McCormick keeping a good distance there, avoiding the body shot.

Gandalf Grey is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Grey misses with a hook.
McCormick takes a punch right to his stomach. That took the wind out of him momentarily.
Horrible takedown by McCormick or perhaps it was just good defense by Grey which made him look bad.
Gandalf Grey has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kenny McCormick.
Grey lands with a two punch combination before moving back out of range.
Grey scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

McCormick takes a jab on the nose. He smiles like he loves it and keeps coming.

and McCormick counters with a good low kick that Grey was not able to check.
The fighters circling - Grey throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Grey bobbing and weaving, closes the distance and lands a hook to the side of McCormick's head.

McCormick is rocked!

McCormick is still on wobbly legs! Can Grey finish him?

Grey rushes McCormick and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
McCormick seems to have recovered his senses.
Grey misses with the head strike.
Grey prevents McCormick from breaking the clinch.

Grey fakes a jab and scores with a low kick.
McCormick is trying desperately to land a takedown but Grey is having absolutely none of it. This is turning into a bit of a nightmare for McCormick.
Grey displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from McCormick.
McCormick shoots in but no luck this time.
Grey misses with a two punch combination.
McCormick fakes with the hands and throws a leg kick but Grey is out of range.

McCormick walks into a jab.
A looping hook to the body misses from Grey. McCormick does a little dance to reset his feet.
McCormick keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Grey.
Grey lands a nice leg kick that just misses McCormick's sensitive parts.
Grey misses with the combination.
McCormick shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Grey but Grey pushes him off and we're back to square one.
McCormick will need to close the distance a bit before he attacks - that leg kick was thrown from too far away.
Grey looks to land a right hand but McCormick moved out of range.
Grey tries to clinch there but McCormick circles away.

McCormick shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
Grey thuds his right hand into McCormick's forehead from close range. That could be painful for both fighters.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Grey fakes high and swings low for a body shot but McCormick manages to avoid it.
Grey changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Grey jabbing away but nothing is landing.

Grey ducks down and throws a hook to the body.
McCormick takes a shot to the body in his stride.
McCormick shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
McCormick on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Grey cracks McCormick with a big right hand that sees him stumbling back against the cage! McCormick falls to his knees and Grey doesn't need a second invitatation - he rushes in and fires off several unanswered shots that force the referee to stop the fight! This one is all over!

After winning the bout, Gandalf Grey thanked all his fans and promised he'd do even better in his next fight. The crowd seemed to love his humility.
