Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Keni Susi (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Mitchell Pearsen (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Susi's ring entrance music is that housewives' favourite, Metallica - Hero of the Day. Keni Susi has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 22 - 21 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Keni Susi!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Mitchell Pearsen!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Arvi Lind and Ben Zyskovitsi.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Pearsen keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Susi slips a jab from Pearsen.

Pearsen clinches up with Susi and pushes him back against the cage.
Pearsen lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Pearsen lands on the inside with an uppercut.
Pearsen can't find room to land a body shot as Susi controls the action.
Susi tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Pearsen smiles and moves away.
Pearsen smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Pearsen slaps away a takedown attempt from Susi, before circling back to the center of the mat.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Keni Susi. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Susi changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Pearsen tries to avoid it but Susi manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Pearsen to the ground. Pearsen escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Susi steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Pearsen.

Susi bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Susi wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Pearsen, who protects the arm well.
Pearsen is positioning himself to get back to half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pearsen is looking to slip a leg under and get half guard but Susi is one step ahead and moves to full mount!
Pearsen wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.
Pearsen is looking to get to half guard.

Susi is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Pearsen can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Susi goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Pearsen is on top in guard.

Susi escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Pearsen gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

That's two minutes gone in the round.

The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.
Susi is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Pearsen must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Susi isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Pearsen stacks Susi on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Pearsen!
Susi tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Susi struggling a bit here.
Pearsen works to advance to full mount. Susi defends for a few seconds but eventually he succumbs.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Susi wants to hold on but Pearsen pushes him away.
Pearsen wants to stand but Susi is holding on to him, trying to stop him posturing up.
Pearsen avoids the attempt from Susi to control.
Susi is wriggling around trying to escape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

Pearsen is standing up, even though he is in mount.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Keni Susi will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!


Pearsen misses with an uppercut.

Pearsen tries to sprawl but Susi drives through with a takedown into half guard.
Susi is pressing down on Pearsen's thigh, looking to free his foot. Pearsen is holding on for now.
Pearsen tries to get to full guard but Susi has control of the leg.

Pearsen pushes Susi off and gets back to his feet.
Susi bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Pearsen throws a jab when Susi was well out of range.
Susi shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Pearsen but Pearsen pushes him off and we're back to square one.
Susi fails with a takedown attempt.

Susi closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Pearsen to the mat! Pearsen manages to get full guard.
Pearsen is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Pearsen avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Pearsen keeping moving, preventing Susi from controlling successfully.
Susi stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Pearsen swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Susi has gone for a leg lock! Pearsen slips out almost immediately though and dives into Susi's guard.
Pearsen pushes down on Susi's leg and manages to get into half guard.
Susi trying to hold on to Pearsen's head to control him but Pearsen postures up.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Pearsen in particular looking to stall.
Susi gets full guard.

Pearsen got a little sloppy there for a moment and Susi has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Pearsen has managed to get both his arms back between Susi's legs - danger averted.

That's three minutes gone in the round.

Susi is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Pearsen avoids a guillotine attempt easily.

Susi working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Pearsen doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Pearsen manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Pearsen wants to stand but Susi has a closed guard, so he can't escape.

Susi throws his legs up looking for a submission but Pearsen uses it to pass to side control.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Susi is looking for a sweep.
Susi is working hard here to advance position.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Keni Susi dominated that second round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Pearsen dips to his left and cracks Susi with an uppercut!
Susi takes a shot to the nose. Hopefully that hasn't broken it.
Pearsen throws a nice looking combination but Susi bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Susi ducks under a wild hook from Pearsen.
Nice takedown defense from Pearsen. No joy for Susi on that attempt.

Pearsen throws out a loose jab but Susi uses good head movement to avoid it.
Susi moves out of range of the strikes.
Susi looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.

Pearsen instigates a clinch.
Pearsen scores with a shoulder strike.

Pearsen manages to break the clinch.
Pearsen lands a body shot.
Pearsen might want to mix his strikes up a bit more. He's just going for head shots at the moment and that can become a bit predictable.
Pearsen missing with a left hand there. Susi was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Susi tries to score a power double leg takedown but Pearsen sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Susi somewhat.
Pearsen connects with a looping right hand.
Pearsen smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Susi slips a straight right by Pearsen.
Pearsen jabbing away but nothing is landing.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Susi steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Pearsen.
Susi fails miserably with a takedown attempt.
Susi has a takedown stuffed.
Pearsen throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Susi will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Pearsen closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
The referee calls for Pearsen to work.
Susi fails to pull guard.
Pearsen lands a left hand.

Pearsen's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Pearsen tries to clinch there but Susi circles away.
Susi has his takedown stuffed
and Susi takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Pearsen connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Susi's hands.
Pearsen looks to land a right hand but Susi moved out of range.

Pearsen fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Susi, pushing him back against the cage.
Pearsen lands a right hand.

Pearsen breaks the clinch.
Susi tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in the close the distance. Pearsen manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.
Pearsen pushing out the jab but it's not landing.
Susi avoids a lazy jab quite easily.

Susi gets a takedown into half guard.
Susi is thwarting Pearsen's attempts to control the position.
Susi prevents Pearsen from improving his position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.

Susi is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Pearsen sees it coming and defends easily.
Pearsen tries to kick Susi off but Susi keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Susi is looking for a kimura but Pearsen is holding onto that half guard position, so it's hard for Susi to get the leverage.
Pearsen is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Susi seems to be looking for submissions.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Pearsen tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Susi manages to move to mount!

And that's the end of the fight!
Mitchell Pearsen comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Susi has won this one but let's see what the judges have to say. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
