PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Peter Jones (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Ray Hardy (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hardy comes into a darkened arena with his song building. I shot the Sheriff kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Peter Jones has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 18 - 12 - 1, fighting out of London, Peter Jones!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 23 - 17 - 0, fighting out of London, Ray Hardy!
The judges for this bout are Paul Tew, William Gold and Daniel Bishop.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hardy throws the left hand but Jones avoids the punch easily.
Hardy connects with a body shot that sends Jones's belly button to the back.
Jones tries to score with a leg kick but it misses it's target.
Hardy misses with a double jab.
Hardy fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Jones manages to avoid it.
That's a knee to de groin and it's over and out! Hardy crumples to the ground after an illegal strike from Jones - the referee stops the clock and Hardy gets 5 minutes to recover from that one. "I'm sorry" says Jones. Hardy manages to get back to his feet and the fight resumes.
A slapping body kick lands there for Jones.
Hardy takes a shot right to the liver - Bas would have been proud of that punch.

Jones throws a right and a left that Hardy avoids nicely.
Jones lunges at Hardy with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Hardy's hand.

Hardy is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Jones wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Hardy connects with a single shot there.
Jones walks into a stiff left hand from Hardy.
Hardy throws a leg kick but Jones sees it coming and checks it nicely.

Jones is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Hardy's half guard.
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Jones is trying to advance to mount but he's lost his balance and Hardy reverses the position - he's now on top in Jones's guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Jones is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Hardy doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Jones.

Hardy avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Jones.

The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.

Hardy is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Jones's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Jones's back!

Jones lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Hardy circles away quickly and effectively.
Hardy throws a looping overhand right but Jones ducks down to avoid it.

Hardy has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
