Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ray Quik (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Tristan Alighieri (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Alighieri comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Mosquito Song by Queens Of The Stone Age kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Rumors backstage are that the fighters have been paid to keep it standing but we know that would never happen in MMA!

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alighieri lands a nice shot to the body.
Alighieri connects with a jab.
Quik throws a shot from downtown. Alighieri moves away and avoids it.
Alighieri throws out a loose jab but Quik uses good head movement to avoid it.

letting Quik counter with a right hand.
Quik misses with a wild combination.

Alighieri lands an overhand right.
Quik connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Alighieri momentarily.
Alighieri throws a jab but it's blocked by Quik.
Ray Quik seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Alighieri fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Alighieri jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Quik throws a front kick aimed at Alighieri's knee but Alighieri avoids it well.

Alighieri walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Quik has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Alighieri finds it's way round the side to connect with Quik's head.

Quik throws a lazy right hand but Alighieri sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Alighieri moves into range and connects with a jab.
Quik throws a monster uppercut resembling something out of street fighter but it doesn't land.
Alighieri lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.

Quik tries to close the distance and clinch up against the cage but Alighieri paws at him with a jab and circles away.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Quik misses the shot to the body.
Alighieri tries to score a power double leg takedown but Quik sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Alighieri somewhat.
Alighieri throws a hard body shot but it just misses.
Nice straight punches there by Alighieri. You know Roy Jones Jr respects the hands of Alighieri.
Quik misses with a hook.
Alighieri uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Quik.
Quik misses with a lunging right hand
and Alighieri counters with a nice leg kick.
Alighieri scores with a punch to the gut of his opponent.
Quik is breathing heavily.

Alighieri cracks Quik with an uppercut from hell and Quik crumples to the canvas, he's out! Oh no, he's recovered and he's grabbed one of Alighieri's legs and pulled him into guard. The ref thought about stopping it there but he's let it go - good reffing!

Quik is rocked!

It looks like Ray Quik has been cut.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.
Quik working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Alighieri.
Oh Quik is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Quik avoiding any damage from the ground and pound.
Alighieri throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Quik works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

Quik seems to have got his legs back now.

Alighieri is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Quik preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Alighieri works over Quik with some ground and pound from guard.
Alighieri pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Quik is keeping the position for now.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

Quik swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Alighieri blocks a head kick by Quik.
Alighieri shoots in but Quik avoids the takedown attempt easily.
Quik throws a sloppy head kick and Alighieri moves out of range easily.
Quik tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Quik tries to clinch there but Alighieri circles away.
Ouch! a nice leg kick from Quik, right into the meat.

Alighieri walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. Quik checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.

Alighieri's jab looks to have found its range, popping Quik under the eye.
Quik takes a body punch but keeps moving.
Quik defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Alighieri.

Quik gets caught by a big overhand right and goes down! Alighieri gets on top of him and starts throwing some serious punches until the ref intervenes and stops the fight!
