Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ray Leonard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Phillip Tavares (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). There are an array of beautiful celebrities at ringside tonight! I wonder if any of them paid for their tickets.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Leonard closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Tavares's guard.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Leonard gets to his feet and steps away from his opponent.
Tavares jabs Leonard to the body, keeping him at a distance.

Leonard gets the takedown into side control.
Leonard slows the pace down.
Leonard throws a strike aimed at the side of Tavares's head but Tavares avoids it well.
Leonard has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
The referee asks Leonard politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Leonard prefers to stall for the moment though.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Tavares looks to move to half guard but instead Leonard has passed into mount! Damn!
Leonard throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Tavares because Leonard loaded up on that one.
Leonard trying to control but Tavares is having none of it.
Tavares really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Leonard. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Tavares is just holding on here. Leonard manages to take his back.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Leonard is working for the choke. I would put my money on him to finish from this position. He's rolled onto his back and has dragged Tavares with him. Tavares is trying to defend but Leonard has an arm under the chin now! Tavares grimaces and is forced to tap out!
