PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Michael Crichton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Garlin Liddle (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Liddle has chosen eye of the tiger as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 10 - 12 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Michael Crichton!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 13 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Garlin Liddle!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Stewart Dunkirk and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Crichton tries to clinch but Liddle is having none of it.
Donk. Crichton catches Liddle right on the button with a cross.
Liddle throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Crichton.
Liddle misses with a two punch combination.
Liddle throws a series of punches but Crichton avoids them all with ease.
Crichton ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Liddle moves away.

Crichton clinches up against the cage.

Crichton jumps guard and drags Liddle to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
The referee is pacing around the two fighters - he looks like he's thinking about a standup.

Liddle avoids a guillotine attempt easily.
Crichton is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Liddle wants to get back to his feet but Crichton drags him back down.
Liddle parries the strikes from Crichton easily there. Crichton is wary of posturing up too much because it might enable Liddle to escape.
The ground and pound from Crichton seems to be hitting the mat more than his opponent.

Crichton swings around for an armbar but Liddle sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Crichton's guard.

There's a bit of a scramble here and now Crichton is on top in guard.

Crichton wants to control from the top but Liddle keeps moving.

Liddle is working an open guard so Crichton takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Liddle misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
The fight stays on the outside here - Crichton looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Crichton drives through with a takedown into Liddle's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Liddle throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Crichton escapes and throws Liddle's legs to the side, diving into side control!

Crichton closes the distance and looks for a trip takedown... aaaand he's got it - Crichton lands in his opponent's guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Liddle tries to close the distance and clinch but Crichton swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Crichton misses the shot to the body.
Liddle uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Crichton.

It looks like Garlin Liddle has been cut.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Crichton just misses with a punch to the body.
Liddle circles away from the clinch attempt.
Liddle throws a series of punches but Crichton moves out of range.
Michael Crichton is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Crichton closes the distance, clinches up and gets a nice trip takedown into side control. Very smooth.
Liddle is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Crichton is controlling him well.

Crichton has his opponent pinned against the cage, landing some nasty ground and pound that is really making a bit of a mess out of Liddle's face.
Liddle wants to use the cage to get back to his feet here.

Crichton jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Liddle manages to avoid the submission attempt.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
You can see the frustration on Liddle's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Crichton wants to control but Liddle is keeping him busy.

Liddle pushes Crichton away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Crichton gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Crichton is nestled in close to Liddle, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare eachother down, ready to get back to the action. So, we enter the final round. Let's see if either fighter can bring us a finish, or whether we're going to the judges scorecards.

Liddle swings away but doesn't land with a series of punches.
Liddle throws a nice looking combination but Crichton bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.

Crichton has closed the distance and engaged Liddle in a clinch.

Crichton has moved round to his opponent's back and is looking for a suplex! Oh snap! He's tossed Liddle clear over his head and slammed him to the mat!
Crichton is landing with strikes. Liddle can't take much more of this.

Liddle tries to escape the position - he's now mounted. Is that better or worse? Hard to tell!
BOOM! Crichton connects with a massive shot to the dome!
Liddle tries to reverse the position but Crichton maintains control.
Crichton postures up and cracks his opponent a couple of times before moving back into close ground control. Liddle looks a forlorn figure.
Liddle wants to hold on but Crichton pushes him away.
Liddle takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Liddle is squirming around, avoiding Crichton's attempts to control the action.

Crichton is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Liddle to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Liddle shrugs it off.
Crichton has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.
BOOM! Crichton connects with a massive shot to the dome!

Garlin Liddle's cut is absolute horrible now. This looks like something out of a horror film with blood covering both fighters.

The referee calls the doctor in to look at Garlin Liddle's cut. Oh no, the doctor has called an end to the bout!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:26 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Cut). Michael Crichton!
During a confident post fight interview, Michael Crichton thanked all his fans. He seemed very genuine when describing how motivated his fans keep him.
