PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Bob Banks (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Hunter Hearst Hogan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Hogan has chosen The Game as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Bob Banks!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 13 - 0, fighting out of London, Hunter Hearst Hogan!
The judges for this bout are William Gold, Donald Grub and Daniel Bishop.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Banks just misses with a punch to the body.
Banks fakes a head shot and lands one to the body.
Horrible takedown by Hogan or perhaps it was just good defense by Banks which made him look bad.
Hogan throws a hook but Banks avoids it easily.

Hogan manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Banks on his heels. He'll look to pass Banks's guard now, I'm sure.

Hogan makes a bit of distance and scores with some ground and pound, still in guard.

Hogan wants to control from the top but Banks keeps moving.

Banks knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hogan on the ground.

Hogan manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Banks manages to get himself to full guard.

Banks has momentary wrist control but Hogan slips an elbow through the middle.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hogan distracts Banks with his right hand and drops a big elbow with his other arm.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Hogan postures up to throw the ground and pound strikes but they don't connect.

The ref stands the fighters back up. Hunter Hearst Hogan was stalling too much, according to the referee.
Banks throws a body punch but Hogan moves out of range.
Banks lands with a kick to the ribs.
Banks punishes Hogan's body with a nice straight punch.
Banks misses with a body shot.
Hogan gets cracked there but stands up to it.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Banks scores with a one two! Hogan had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.


It looks like Hunter Hearst Hogan has been cut.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

A close round but Hunter Hearst Hogan will probably get the nod.

Banks ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
Hogan slips a straight right by Banks.
Banks lands an overhand right.
A nice inside leg kick there by Banks. That's going to slow Hogan down.

and Hogan holds on and brings the fighters into a clinch.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Banks escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Banks throws a body kick despite being completely out of range
and Hogan counters with a good low kick that Banks was not able to check.
Hogan shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Banks pinned against the cage. Banks gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Banks tries to land a leg kick but Hogan saw it coming and moves away.
Banks throws an off balance right hand
and Hogan counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Banks slaps away a takedown attempt from Hogan, before circling back to the center of the mat.
Bob Banks has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Hunter Hearst Hogan.

Banks stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Banks wants it to stay on the feet.

Hogan shoots in looking for a takedown but Banks manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Hogan's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Hogan shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Hogan was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Hogan wants to lay and pray for a moment but Banks keeps working.
Hogan tries to score with some ground and pound. Banks controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.

Hogan wants to work for a kimura but he's foiled early by Banks, who protects the arm well.

Banks is squirming around, avoiding Hogan's attempts to control the action.
Hogan throws an elbow from mount that misses. Lucky escape for Banks because Hogan loaded up on that one.
Hogan throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.
As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

That's the end of the round. The referee orders the cornermen out of the cage so we can get back down to business. The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Hogan changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Banks tries to avoid it but Hogan manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Banks to the ground. Banks escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

The fight stays on the outside here - Hogan looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Hogan on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.

Hogan feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Well, if Hogan is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Hunter Hearst Hogan comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Hogan winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
