Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Asylbek Malybaev (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Nathan Goffard (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Asylbek Malybaev has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 15 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Asylbek Malybaev!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Nathan Goffard!
The judges for this bout are Anni Minnemäki, Roosa Järviläinen and Matti Vanhoillinen.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Goffard is looking to clinch.
Malybaev fakes high and swings low for a body shot but Goffard manages to avoid it.

Goffard closes the distance and after a bit of a stuggle, scores a takedown into Malybaev's guard.
Malybaev could do with losing a few pounds - he looks very soft around the mid section, to put it politely.
Malybaev wants to get back to his feet but Goffard is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Malybaev knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Goffard on the ground.

Goffard stands up from guard. Let's bang!
Goffard lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Malybaev circles away quickly and effectively.

Malybaev clinches.
Goffard slowing the pace effectively.
Goffard lands with a short shot to the head.

Goffard breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Goffard throws a left and a right that both miss
enabling Malybaev to counter with a crisp jab.


It looks like Nathan Goffard has been cut.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!
Goffard works his jab well there, keeping his opponent at a distance.
Malybaev has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Malybaev there as he acknowledges the shot.
Malybaev shoots in but no luck this time.

Goffard has closed the distance and engaged Malybaev in a clinch.
Goffard scores with a shot to the side of Malybaev's head.

Goffard breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.

A head kick misses from Malybaev.

Goffard darts in and clinches Malybaev up against the cage.
Goffard lands with a right to the head.
A left hand lands to the body for Goffard.
Malybaev is breathing heavily.

Goffard drags the fight down to the ground.

Goffard kicks Malybaev off and gets to his feet.

Nice combo by Goffard! Oh, that's hurt him - Malybaev falls to the canvas and Goffard follows him into side control.


It looks like Asylbek Malybaev has been cut.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Goffard decides to stand back up. Goffard steps back and let's Malybaev get back to his feet.
Goffard throws a series of punches but Malybaev avoids them all with ease.
Malybaev lands a right hook to the body.

Goffard shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Malybaev's guard.

Malybaev is working an open guard so Goffard takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.

Goffard gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Goffard breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Goffard will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Malybaev misses with a head kick.
Nathan Goffard seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Goffard falls off balance throwing a combination
and Malybaev counters with a three punch combination, finished off with a leg kick. Nice work.

Goffard closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Goffard breaks the clinch.
Malybaev lands a two punch combo.
No joy there for Goffard, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

Malybaev is trying to pull guard but Goffard turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Goffard manages to break the clinch.

Goffard closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.

Goffard breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Goffard connects with a jab.
Goffard closes the distance and lands a one-two.
Goffard feints a jab promting Malybaev to slip. Goffard then demonstrates his capabilities by jabbing again. Malybaev slips again and ducks right into an uppercut.

Goffard has managed to clinch.
A short right from Goffard.
Goffard lands an uppercut.
Goffard stays in close to his opponent and throws a right hand to the body.
A frustrated look appears on Malybaev's face as he tries to break the clinch.
Goffard lands a hook that snaps the head of Malybaev backwards.
Goffard throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Malybaevs head.
Goffard lands with a short punch from the clinch.
Malybaev trying to control the position but instead, Goffard has worked for underhooks and has pushed Malybaev into the cage.
Goffard lands a nice uppercut.
Goffard gets underhooks to prevent Malybaev's takedown attempt.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Asylbek Malybaev. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Goffard breaks from the clinch.

Goffard throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Malybaev tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Goffard is in Malybaev's guard.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Goffard decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Malybaev, up you get!

Goffard fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Malybaev, pushing him back against the cage.

Goffard jumps into guard, dragging Malybaev to the mat.

Goffard has butterfly guard. He's looking to stand up here. He pushes Malybaev off him and springs to his feet nicely. The crowd applauds.

Malybaev closes the distance and clinches.
The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!
Malybaev wants to push off and get back to the center of the mat but Goffard has him pressed against the cage.

Nice body punch from Goffard - that landed with a thud.
Goffard digs a right hand into Malybaev's ribs. Those have got to be taking their toll on Malybaev's gas tank.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Nathan Goffard dominated that round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!



Goffard manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Malybaev on his heels. He'll look to pass Malybaev's guard now, I'm sure.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Goffard slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Goffard has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.

Goffard shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Goffard showed some decent athleticism there.
Malybaev keeping his head moving to avoid the ground and pound.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.

Goffard stands up out of the half guard.
Goffard bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Malybaev shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Goffard pinned against the cage. Goffard gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.

Goffard throws a left that rocks Malybaev and follows with a right that sends him tumbling to the canvas! Goffard dives into side control, looking to finish! Can Malybaev regain composure!
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.

Goffard decides to stand back up. Goffard steps back and let's Malybaev get back to his feet.
Malybaev fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

A jab-cross combination lands for Goffard and sends Malybaev crashing to the mat! Goffard follows him down to the mat - Malybaev regains half guard but he's not out of trouble yet!


Malybaev is rocked!
Nathan Goffard has got the better of the ground game so far.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Goffard drops an elbow to the side of Malybaev's head.
Oh Malybaev is still in real trouble! Will he be able to recover?!!
Goffard thows a wild elbow that connects with the canvas.
Malybaev seems to have got his legs back now.

Goffard is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Malybaev doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Goffard.

Goffard is working for a submission here. He's got hold of the far side arm and he's looking for a kimura. He's cranking on the arm and he's got it! Malybaev is tapping out! Ouch, that looked like it hurt!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:59 of round 2, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Nathan Goffard!
